Site Reliability Engineer – Deployment Team
Job Description
SRE Engineer contributes to the strategic objectives of the System Operations Division by providing RingCentral application services and support. Employees in this position perform day-to-day tasks for running a hybrid cloud-based environment which consists of Linux/Windows based web-application services, on-prem and public cloud infrastructure. SRE Engineers also investigate problems with applications and research cloud-based RingCentral solutions. This specific position is for our India Deployment Team responsible for safe delivery of RingCentral product updates to end customers in time. The SRE Engineers in this team will perform statistical analysis of data, systems, application and participate in deployment procedures.
Responsibilities include:
● Administration, maintenance, and support of unique Linux- and Windows OS-based components of our platform, with a focus on Web-applications and RingCentral's custom-developed platform.
● Participation in and ownership of various release cycles.
● Collaboration with diverse stakeholders to ensure smooth and reliable software delivery across all environments.
● Involvement in projects aimed at infrastructure enhancement, as well as the integration of new systems and software.
● Performing pre-production tests in Staging environments.
● Deployment, configuration, and maintenance of RingCentral application services.
● Monitoring, planning, and executing software capacity expansions, security patching.
● Ensuring new software delivery end to end.
● Responding to alerts and escalations from monitoring systems.
● Troubleshooting service issues.
Qualifications & Skills
● Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar with 2+ years of experience in SRE, Systems Operations or System Administration.
● Significant experience in Linux systems administration.
● Proven ability to work in high-performing and mission-critical infrastructure environments.
● Remote server administration expertise.
● Working knowledge of Windows and Linux systems.
● Networking experience with Load Balancers, Routers, Firewalls, VLAN, TCP/IP , VoIP , DNS, and HTTP/S.
● Scripting skills in Bash/Shell, Python, Batch scripts, and PowerShell.
● Familiarity with infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
● Experience in Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
● Experience with Version Control tools, such as GIT.
● Working knowledge of Kubernetes.
● Experience working with Public Cloud platforms like AWS (Amazon) and GCP (Google).
● Flexibility to support both Morning and Evening shifts.
● Demonstrated ability to deliver successful solutions and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills:
● Experience in software deployment and delivery across diverse environments.
● Proficiency in various change management practices.
● Familiarity with CI/CD.
● Knowledge of HTTP applications based on Nginx and Java.
