  • Assess tissue sample quality and suitability for project use in phenotype-specific isolation workflows
  • Identify and annotate disease-relevant tissue regions to support downstream molecular profiling, microdissection, and somatic variant analysis
  • Carry out histological techniques including dissection, tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence and specialized staining protocols.
  • Review and support the interpretation of histology, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and tissue-based assay data to enable scientific decision-making
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support process optimization and method development.
  • Ensure accurate handling, labelling and traceability of human tissue samples throughout the laboratory workflow
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and quality standards, including the Human Tissue Act and COSHH
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory efficiency, reproducibility, and turnaround times

  • Experience working within a histopathology lab within either a Biotech, academia or NHS environment
  • Specialist training and practical experience in histology techniques and tissue-based assays
  • Proficiency in tissue sectioning, H&E staining, immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunofluorescence (IF) and digital pathology workflows.
  • Expertise in histological assay development, optimisation, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Knowledge and experience of working under HTA regulations
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced startup environment
