Position Summary

This position will lead the design and implementation of critical WebAssembly runtime features, designed to meet a challenging mix of speed, space, and security constraints arising in business-critical production settings. The role will be expected to have a broad knowledge of compilers, interpreters, and their associated runtime support. Candidates should have several years’ experience developing compilers in a significant commercial or open-source context. It would be useful to have expertise in compilation of both static and dynamic languages, and targeting WebAssembly.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and implement new WebAssembly runtime features, from concept to production
  • Design and implement zero-copy or minimal-copy pathways for high-throughput, low-latency streaming
  • Define and deliver ergonomic APIs for asynchronous capabilities, balancing safety, performance, and portability
  • Profile and optimize performance
  • Stay abreast of latest developments in compilation and optimization
  • Help set expectations with software, architecture, and hardware stakeholders
  • Work with geographically distributed compiler, architecture and application teams to oversee improvements and problem resolutions

Required Qualifications

  • Broad knowledge of compilers, interpreters, and their associated runtime support.
  • 5+ years of experience developing compilers in a significant commercial or open-source context
  • Proficiency in a variety of development styles and languages, both static and dynamic
  • Strong design and analytical skills
  • Excellent leadership and collaboration skills
  • Strong background in software engineering principles with a focus on crafting robust and maintainable solutions to challenging problems
  • Good communication and documentation skills
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS/PhD in PL/Compilers highly desirable
  • Experience with WebAssembly highly desirable
  • Work experience having worked on compilers

The annual base pay for this position is: $246,400.00 - $369,600.00
