Senior UX Designer, Partner Platform Aliso Viejo, CA

The PlayStation Partners Platform is a suite of digital tools that enable game creators to publish their games to the PlayStation digital store and discs. Through the platform, PlayStation helps creators to publish games to the highest standards, create digital store content, access developer support, and track metrics on store sales and engagement.

Our department’s mission is to make PlayStation the best place for game creators to publish their games. We do this by working closely with game creators to understand their needs and by continually improving the support services we offer them, as well as the design, operation, and performance of the Partner's digital platform.

Role overview:

As a member of the Partners UX Design team, your work will shape the future of the PlayStation Partners platform, which is used by thousands of game developers and publishers worldwide.

We're a team of professional designers, UX writers, and researchers, all working to make the PlayStation Partners Platform the most welcoming, streamlined, intuitive, and well-supported place to publish games; one that fits seamlessly with how game creators work and makes a clear difference in helping their games succeed on PlayStation.

As a Senior UX Designer for PlayStation Partners, you will build amazing tools that empower internal and external parties to create and publish products via the PlayStation Store. The PlayStation partner platform supports the submission of product metadata, game content, sales, and promotion information required to publish PlayStation software. It is our goal to support all PlayStation game developers and publishers, getting their content to the consumers with as little effort and time as possible. This position will play an integral part on the Partner Publishing team in revolutionizing the way our Partners publish their content on multiple devices.

This is a permanent role focused on UX design for enterprise tools, service design, organizational design strategy, and daily collaboration with teams.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Working embedded in a cross-disciplinary product team on both small enhancements and big leaps forward for the PS Partners platform. Your initial focus will be on PS Partner Platform unification and foundations to support game publishers.
  • Crafting exceptional design solutions, from early conceptual stages through to product releases and updates. You’ll be comfortable working in a transparent, collaborative fashion through sketches, service blueprints, user flows, and Figma prototypes.
  • Working closely with developers to rapidly iterate design solutions and bring the best designs into production, balancing technical feasibility and product quality.
  • Working closely with product managers to ensure scope and requirements meet user needs, plan design activities and roadmaps, and advocate for a user-centric, evidence-led approach that delivers the very best design quality.
  • Share and present your designs with stakeholders and colleagues, clearly explain user needs and design rationale and invite input and questions at various points in the design process.
  • Supporting (and receiving help from) your UX design colleagues and working together on bold, UX team-led initiatives to advance how design happens at PlayStation.
  • Contributing to and helping maintain central UX team resources such as our design system, user archetypes, and service blueprints.
  • Negotiate design-related requirements and play an active lead role in the feedback and iteration cycle
  • Partner with UX research to gauge the usability of new and existing products and make constructive suggestions for change
  • Determine best design solutions based on user feedback and business goals and help to determine overall direction, identifying challenges and adapting as needed based on the context of the solution.
Who we’re looking for:
  • 6+ years of commercial experience as a UX/Digital Product Designer, with demonstrable experience working on Enterprise /B2B software products.
  • A proven track record in working through the entire design process, from Discovery and scoping to detailed production and launch.
  • Strong core UX design skills, with experience designing IAs, user flows, screen layouts, and UI components. Experience working with design systems is a plus.
  • A strong familiarity with web application design patterns, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Experience working closely with software product teams - including developers, product managers, user researchers, and business stakeholders - and offering guidance and expertise in UX design.
  • Experience in Service Design, or mapping and working with complex and large-scale user journeys, before diving into the design details.
  • Experience running User Research Interviews and Usability Tests and using results to iterate upon design solutions.
  • Experience leading Workshops and Group Design Sessions.
  • Great communication skills with the ability to present design work with confidence and clarity, explain design rationale, and champion ideas through low-fidelity sketches, diagrams, and prototypes.
  • Excellent soft skills, with the ability to explain and promote a user-centric design approach and strategy to colleagues from technical and business-focused backgrounds.
  • A portfolio or presentation showcasing your work and design process.
