The Role
Serve as the primary general ledger accountant for acquired companies undergoing transition. Clean up accounts, reconcile balance sheets, implement accruals and reclasses, map charts of accounts, support ERP migrations, improve AP and inventory processes, and maintain audit-ready records. Train onsite staff, document procedures, automate manual workflows, support reporting and due diligence, and hand off stabilized accounting operations to ongoing finance teams.
Summary Generated by Built In

My Financial Partner delivers high quality, fast-paced fractional Controller, AP, and GL services to 70+ network companies across the Teamshares portfolio. We're a wholly owned subsidiary of Teamshares, Inc. — a publicly traded company built to keep great small businesses thriving, one acquisition at a time.

The Role

You're a member of the accounting SWAT team. When Teamshares acquires a new network company (NC) — or an existing one needs tidying up — you parachute in, get everything GAAP-clean, and hand off accounting processes that are ready to run smoothly. You sit at the center of it all: My Financial Partner (MFP), Teamshares' Financial Performance Team, and the Teamshares’ Acquisitions Team, turning messy legacy books into a sparkly system that just works.

Focus Areas

  • Clean up payroll/benefits liabilities and expenses, accruals, deferred revenue, AP, ST/LT liabilities, prepaids, inventory, customer deposits, and chart-of-accounts mapping before handing off to the on-going MFP teammates.
  • Report findings straight to the Sr. Transition Controller and flag the big stuff fast.
  • Assist with GL/ERP migrations, system integrations, and testing.
  • Reconcile everything on the balance sheet — cash, credit cards, fixed assets, tax liabilities, payroll liabilities, etc.
  • Turn paper-and-spreadsheet processes into clean, automated ones.

What Success Looks Like

  • Close the books in 8–10 business days, every cycle, without cutting corners on accuracy and quality.
  • Get most of a new acquisition transitioned within 30–90 days, so the on-going MFP Controller, GL Accountant, and AP Specialist can take the wheel.
  • Help refine the Transition Team playbook to make every future onboarding faster than the last.

What You'll Actually Do

    Core G/L Accounting & Month-End Close

  • Serve as the primary G/L accountant for multiple NCs in transition.
  • Determine and implement snazzy accounting entries such as accruals, reserves, reclasses, and intercompany entries.
  • Coach onsite finance leads on AR standard practices — payment application, collections hygiene.
  • Modernize and streamline AP tools (e.g. bill.com and Charted), tighten credit-card transaction syncing and coding/approval processes, and coordinate payment releases with the NC President.
  • Sync and reconcile cash, credit cards, and payroll to the right GL accounts.
  • Systems, ERP & Inventory Transition

  • Map legacy charts of accounts (COA) onto Teamshares' standardized COA.
  • Configure the GL — account structure, segments, dimensions, reporting hierarchy — so reporting is useful yet efficient.
  • Spot ERP-driven and accrual/estimation process improvements, especially anything that shortens the month-end close.
  • Review inventory processes and COGS recognition for alignment with how the business recognizes revenue.
  • Financial Reporting, Analysis & Advisory

  • Turn complicated transactions into insights the NC leadership can actually use.
  • Clean up inherited reporting and accrual calculations that don't hold together and build a reliable baseline.
  • Keep the books audit-ready throughout the transition — not just at handoff.
  • Internal Controls, Audit & Process Improvement

  • Support audit, tax, and due-diligence requests with airtight documentation and digital audit trails.
  • Identify control and process gaps before they become audit findings.
  • Automate the manual, siloed, and disconnected — every fix should scale to the next NC.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication

  • Partner with MFP Controllers, GL Accountants, and Teamshares to keep systems and data in sync.
  • Show up to meetings ready to speak up and flag risks and inefficiencies early.
  • Translate accounting impact into plain business terms.
  • Team Training & Transition Planning

  • Train onsite NC staff on new workflows and close responsibilities.
  • Document SOPs and training materials in MFP's Google Drive — build it once, use it until we find a better way.
  • Join recurring knowledge-transfer sessions.
  • Hand off month-end close cleanly to the on-going MFP team.
  • Help refine the onboarding playbook and KPIs with the MFP Transitions Team.

This Job is for You if You

  • Get hives at the thought of procrastination, disorganization, lack of documentation, and filing paper documents.
  • Desire a new accounting puzzle to solve as soon the current puzzle is at 90%.
  • Love janitorial accounting (a good clean up and facelift of the books) and you’re not afraid to use a different kind of mop, broom, or vacuum - with or without the instruction manual.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Don't need a roadmap for every new system. You like assembling furniture without the manual yet you use the manual as a reference when needed.
  • Meet NC staff and teammates where they are at and help them get over the finish line. If they trip, you help them cross the finish line.
  • Wear the hat of an accounting professor and explain accounting to NC staff and teammates in chewable bites.
  • Like small-business scrappiness backed by big-company rigor and internal control standards.
  • Have a high frustration tolerance. You know you’ll figure out the puzzle soon.
  • Constant technological and process changes don’t phase you. You don’t skip a beat. You hardly blink.
  • Live our values, "Trust comes first, take initiative, make things better, act thoughtfully and be dependable."

Benefits

  • Medical, Dental, Vision, FSA/HSA
  • 100% paid for employee (and dependents on most plans)
  • 15 days of vacation time to keep you balanced, rested and recharged and paid time off for 19 holidays, 5 sick days, and one floating holiday of your choice
  • Ongoing support and advice from Teamshares accounting, finance, and small business experts
