The Ascend Learning Healthcare Segment leads the way in innovation and solution creation to improve outcomes and deliver results for students, educators, and healthcare workers in the ever-changing field of healthcare. WHAT YOU'LL DO

Ascend Learning is hiring a Senior Test Developer. This position is responsible for working independently to create, maintain, and edit assessments for Ascend Learning. The Senior Test Developer must ensure that each assessment meets the specifications defined by stakeholders while maintaining product quality and on-time delivery. Coordination across various departments is required to develop content, ensure content validity, communicate progress, and resolve issues. The Senior Test Developer must maintain and perform administration tasks for the company's internal database and records to create and deliver assessments. The Senior Test Developer is also responsible for beta testing assessments for quality and end-user functionality.

This position offers flexibility of remote work within the United States or a hybrid schedule from our Leawood, KS office location.

HOW YOU'LL SPEND YOUR TIME

  • Use an internal database to create and maintain assessments (high stakes, low stakes, and certification) to predetermined specifications while meeting established deadlines and coordinating with cross-functional teams, including psychometrics, content experts, media development, and project management.
  • Coordinate and lead Item Review meetings with content experts while transcribing the input of content experts, navigating an internal database, ensuring that everyone stays on task, and accounting for all test requirements.
  • Responsible for documenting assembly tasks in detail, building tests, performing testing in a production environment, and coordinating to ensure that all issues are resolved before final product release.
  • Copyedit products to ensure consistency with company standards.
  • Understand the various steps within the test development process, why they are performed, and when they should be modified. Use this knowledge to contribute to process modification and/or the resolution of customer support inquiries.
  • Coordinate with IT teams to create, test, and release new functionality, prevent incidents, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Provide administration and management of internal databases.
  • Proactively contribute to creation of new processes, procedure documentation, and quality control initiatives.
  • Understand test development processes enough to participate in resource planning meetings.
  • Serve as liaison between Business Units and the Test Development Team when required.
  • Serve as a backup contact for Test Development Managers when required.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Two years' editing experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • 2 to 4 years of experience as a Test Developer with a proven ability to independently manage projects with complex dependencies, coordinate with teams outside of the assessment sciences unit, and understand and work with technical teams
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills using available resources
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of editing and proofreading
  • Ability to follow instructions carefully and thoroughly
  • Aptitude for organizing and prioritizing work while directing own activities
  • Desire to take accountability of projects and quality
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
  • Expertise in maintenance of internal databases
  • Ability to contribute to process documentation updates
  • Familiarity with interconnectedness of testing platforms (creation, delivery, staging, etc) and backend processes
