Our Team's Vision:

Our Product Management team has established a culture based on thought leadership, independence, and responsibility. Those who join us represent the leader in Zero Trust security and work closely with our Engineering team to solve real customer problems. Bring your visionary instincts to all stages of the product lifecycle—conception, definition, development, release and post-release activities—manage strategic planning, feature selection, and tactical activities. This powerful, dynamic team drives our roadmap forward as we work to make the digital world a safer place.

Illumio technical writers are encouraged to be fearless and have the freedom to make important decisions affecting our documentation, tools, and customer experience. We write for advanced networking and security audiences.

At Illumio, technical writers have the opportunity to create new content from scratch about an evolving technology. Each writer has a large impact on the success of the team and on the future of the company. The team's collective experience and insight help us deliver content that best serves customer needs.

Your Impact:

Are you a technical storyteller who thrives on turning complex networking and security concepts into in-app help, videos, and infographics? At Illumio, we don’t just write manuals—we build the bridge between sophisticated engineering and a seamless product experience for customers.

The Content Experience team is looking for a Sr. Content Strategist/ Technical Writer to join our team and own the content journey for our new and existing product lines. This isn't just about text on a page; it’s about creating a multimedia experience using videos, learning journeys, infographics, and more to empower our users to secure their most critical workloads.

You aren't just a "writer" here; you are a product expert. You’ll have the autonomy to choose the best format for the message and the support of a team that values technical depth and creative flair.

As a key member of the Content Experience team, you will:

  • Be the Voice of the Product: Translate weekly cloud releases into high-impact content, from deep-dive technical guides to engaging "What’s New" features that highlight the business value of our innovations.

  • Create Beyond the Page: Design videos, infographics, and interactive learning journeys that cater to a highly technical audience. Embed intuitive, in-app guidance that meets customers exactly where they are—providing the right answers at precisely the right moment.

  • Bridge the Gap: Collaborate directly with SMEs, Engineering, and Professional Services to capture "field-tested" best practices and solve real-world customer problems.
Collaborative and Leadership Focused: Partner closely with product management, engineering, UX, and Support/Professional Service teams to build engaging and technically accurate content for a best-in-class customer experience.

  • Strategize and Execute: Drive engagement by choosing the optimal mix of SEO-optimized content, video, and visuals to ensure our customers get the right information in the most digestible format. Fuel our rapid release engine by delivering technically accurate and synchronized content that launches alongside every new feature.

  • Problem Solve: Use a "jobs to be done" framework to evaluate user needs, creating task-oriented documentation and videos that translate product features into immediate customer wins.

  • Test and Validate: Get your hands on the product. You’ll build time into your workflow to test installation and admin procedures yourself before they ever reach a customer.

  • Curate Quality: From detailed troubleshooting guides to concise release notes, you ensure our documentation is the gold standard for the industry.

Your Toolkit:
  • 7-9 years of technical writing experience

  • BA/BS in Technical Communications, English, Computer Science, or equivalent subject

  • This role supports FedRAMP‑related responsibilities and therefore must be filled by a U.S. citizen, as required by federal government security standards.

  • Exceptional communication skills with a proven ability to distill high-level engineering jargon into a cohesive narrative for technical and business audiences.

  • Quickly synthesize complex new technologies into modular in-app guidance, ensuring our customers are never more than a click away from a solution.

  • Lead with agility. Expertly balance multiple deliverables while embracing the dynamic nature of agile releases.

  • You aren't a stranger to the 'startup hustle' or high-growth enterprise environments. You thrive on the adrenaline of fast-paced tech and know how to build scale while moving at light speed.

  • 1-2 years of experience with Paligo or another CMS

  • Expertise in structured authoring languages (DITA/XML) and tools such as Git, GitLab, Jira, Confluence

  • Deep knowledge of network security technologies (e.g., networking, security policies)
