Group/Division

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA’s metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. The Film and Scatterometry Technology (FaST) Division provides industry leading metrology solutions for worldwide semiconductor IC manufacturers. The FaST Division portfolio of metrology products includes hardware and software solutions for optical film thickness, optical critical dimension (CD), composition, and resistivity measurement systems. These products are essential for the IC manufacturers as they provide critical metrology capabilities for the development and implementation of their advanced IC processes. The FaST division is committed to support our customers to achieve performance entitlement of our solution and we effectively partner with our customers from their early research and development phase to the high volume in-line manufacturing implementation specific for their process needs. The division consists of a global team located in US, Israel, China, and India.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

Technical Writer

Join the action! As a Technical Writer, you will support our division's new product development process, partnering with the New Product Introduction and Development Engineering teams to produce high quality documentation. Key responsibilities and skills:
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining technical documentation for manufacturing, service, maintenance, installation, repair, troubleshooting, part replacement, upgrades, software and software configuration.
  • Applies technical writing standards, formats, and templates to produce products that conform to the company documentation, quality assurance standards and industry compliance standards (i.e. SEMI-S2, UL, CE).
  • Collaborates with NPI, development engineer, manufacturing, field service and other domain experts, to capture and develop content for documentation. Conducts review meetings and discussions independently with engineering and technical staff to edit and revise existing content to ensure accuracy, consistency, usability and thoroughness.
  • Exerts good project management skills on the assigned projects, conducts reviews with team members, provides regular updates to the collaborators and functional groups; assesses efforts and time needed for the documentation; maintains action trackers and project documentation.
  • Ability to generate real-time documenting in cleanroom environment.
  • Ability to review and understand schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs, 3D models.
  • A motivated self-starter who is fast-learning, adaptable, capable of working independently, and can optimally coordinate with a globally distributed team.
  • Ability to extract complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation for non-technical and technical users.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree or work equivalent experience of 4 years, Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience of 6 years; in Technical Writing/Communication, English, Engineering or related technical writing field, or more than 5 years of professional experience in a Technical Writer role.
  • Experience with assembling/building optical-mechanical, mechanical, electrical, electrical-mechanical semiconductor sub-systems is desirable.
  • Detailed, diligent with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
  • Proficiency with documentation tools: MS Word/Excel/PPT/Visio; Adobe Acrobat/Framemaker/Photoshop/3D-PDF; eDrawing.
  • Familiarity using 3D CAD software, preferably ProE/CREO a plus.
  • Experience with Semiconductor Capital Equipment a plus.

Base Pay Range: $126,900.00 - $215,700.00 Annually

Primary Location: USA-CA-Milpitas-KLA
