ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintenance Management:
- Lead the maintenance team across the 2 sites to ensure all manufacturing equipment and machinery are operational, safe, and effective.
- Develop and execute a preventive maintenance strategy to reduce unplanned downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues promptly to minimize production disruptions.
- Implement a structured system to manage maintenance work orders, track equipment history, and ensure timely maintenance activities.
- Provide technical leadership in identifying root causes of equipment failures and develop corrective actions to improve reliability.
- MRO Inventory Control:
- Design, implement, and optimize an MRO inventory control system to manage spare parts and consumables effectively.
- Ensure that slow-moving and obsolete MRO materials are identified, managed, and disposed of or repurposed to maximize value.
- Work closely with procurement to align inventory levels with production needs while minimizing excess inventory costs.
- Regularly audit the inventory to ensure proper stock levels and compliance with safety standards.
- Production Downtime Reduction:
- Work with production and engineering teams to identify opportunities for minimizing downtime and improving overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Proactively analyze equipment and process data to identify trends and prevent potential breakdowns.
- Implement a system to track downtime causes and collaborate with teams to develop strategies for continuous improvement.
- Automation Implementation:
- Lead the automation initiatives across key manufacturing processes including casting, machining, X-ray, and prop shaft production.
- Design and implement automated solutions that improve the efficiency, consistency, and safety of production lines.
- Oversee the integration of robotics and automation systems into manufacturing processes, ensuring smooth functionality and alignment with overall production goals.
- Work with cross-functional teams to test, calibrate, and commission automated systems to ensure they meet operational and quality standards.
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements in manufacturing automation technologies and recommend improvements where necessary.
- Leadership & Collaboration:
- Manage a team of engineers, technicians, and maintenance staff, ensuring they are trained and equipped to meet the demands of the role.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging team members to propose and implement innovative solutions.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Production, Quality, Safety) to ensure that maintenance and automation activities align with overall company objectives.
- Prepare and manage departmental budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources while achieving operational goals.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure that all maintenance and automation activities are performed in compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.
- Lead efforts to maintain a safe working environment by conducting regular safety audits, risk assessments, and promoting safety awareness among the team.
- Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for maintenance and automation processes to maintain compliance and operational excellence.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in maintenance, engineering, and automation within a manufacturing or automotive production environment.
- Strong experience in MRO inventory management and control.
- Proven track record of implementing and improving preventive maintenance systems.
- Experience with automated systems in manufacturing processes, such as casting, machining, X-ray, and prop shaft production.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage cross-functional teams.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with teams at all levels.
- Proficiency in maintenance management software (CMMS), automation tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of safety protocols, quality systems, and lean manufacturing principles.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
Experience with robotics, PLC programming, and automation software.
Familiarity with predictive maintenance techniques and tools.
WORK CONDITIONS:
Travel between sites in Georgia, Monroe, and Rock Spring as required.
Flexible hours may be necessary to accommodate production schedules.
This position works in a production/warehouse environment. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the direction and supervision of employees.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
