Sr Technical Consultant - Cloud - PostgreSQL DBA, Oracle, Performance Troubleshooting, Backup/Restore, Replication
Scope:
The role requires strong technical ownership, production support experience, and the ability to contribute to database reliability, automation, and migration initiatives.
The candidate should be responsible for database administration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, replication, high availability, monitoring, troubleshooting, patching, security, and operational support.
What you’ll do:
Administer, maintain, and support PostgreSQL databases across production and non-production environments.
Perform PostgreSQL installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and version lifecycle management.
Manage backup, restore, point-in-time recovery, replication, high availability, and disaster recovery configurations.
Troubleshoot performance issues related to queries, indexes, vacuum, autovacuum, bloat, locking, blocking, memory, connections, and storage.
Perform query tuning, index optimization, execution plan analysis, capacity planning, and database health checks.
Support database migrations, data refreshes, data movement, and platform modernization activities.
Monitor database availability, performance, replication lag, storage growth, logs, and alerts.
Work with application, infrastructure, cloud, and support teams for incident resolution and RCA.
Support change management, incident management, problem management, and production deployment activities.
Contribute to automation, operational documentation, dashboards, SOPs, and reliability improvements.
Provide Oracle DBA support as a secondary skill, including administration, troubleshooting, backup/recovery awareness, and production support.
What we are looking for:
5 to 10 years of overall database administration experience.
Strong hands-on experience in PostgreSQL administration in production environments.
Good understanding of PostgreSQL architecture, MVCC, WAL, vacuum/autovacuum, indexing, partitioning, replication, backup/recovery, and security.
Experience with PostgreSQL HA/DR solutions such as streaming replication, logical replication, Patroni, pgBackRest, Barman, repmgr, or similar tools.
Strong SQL tuning and execution plan analysis skills.
Experience troubleshooting locks, long-running queries, connection exhaustion, replication lag, bloat, and storage issues.
Working knowledge of Oracle Database administration.
Good scripting knowledge using Shell, Python, or similar automation tools.
Strong experience in production support, incident handling, RCA, and operational governance.

Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in IT/Computer Science/Electronics or equivalent diploma
- 7-10 years of experience in infrastructure support/engineering roles
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft, Red Hat, VMware, CCNA, ITIL Intermediate)
- Expertise in at least two core domains (e.g., Windows/Linux servers, virtualization, storage/backup, networking, cloud)
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills for complex issues
- Experience with scripting/automation (PowerShell, Python, Ansible, Terraform)
- Familiarity with enterprise monitoring, ITSM, and infrastructure orchestration tools
- Good understanding of ITIL processes and experience driving problem/change management
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
