Role Overview:
The Sr. Technical Agronomist serves as a trusted technical advisor to sales teams and customers by providing advanced agronomic expertise, crop production recommendations, and product stewardship support. This role partners closely with Sales Agronomists, Crop Advisors, Territory Representatives, and Marketing teams to drive customer success, support product positioning, and deliver agronomic solutions that improve crop performance and profitability. Leveraging deep technical knowledge, field experience, and industry expertise, the Sr. Technical Agronomist influences business growth while ensuring responsible product use and agronomic best practices.
A Sample of What You’ll Do in this Role:
Provide advanced agronomic expertise to support sales teams, customers, and strategic business initiatives.
Deliver crop production recommendations and technical guidance related to crop nutrition, crop protection, seed, biological, and specialty product solutions.
Collaborate with Sales Agronomists, Crop Advisors, and Territory Representatives to identify customer needs and develop agronomic recommendations.
Conduct field evaluations, crop scouting activities, and technical assessments to support customer success and product performance.
Assist with product launches, positioning strategies, and technical training programs for internal and external stakeholders.
Analyze field data, research results, and agronomic trends to develop practical recommendations and identify growth opportunities.
Support demonstration trials, research plots, and evaluation programs designed to validate product performance and agronomic practices.
Present technical information through customer meetings, grower events, field days, and training sessions.
Maintain current knowledge of agronomic practices, industry trends, regulatory requirements, and emerging technologies.
Partner with marketing, product management, and technical teams to develop technical resources and customer-facing content.
Promote responsible product stewardship and compliance with all company, regulatory, and safety requirements.
Travel frequently to customer locations, research sites, field trials, and company facilities to support business objectives.
What You Bring to the Role:
5+ years of agronomic, crop consulting, technical service, or agricultural sales support experience
Strong understanding of crop production systems, fertility programs, crop protection products, and agronomic best practices
Experience interpreting agronomic data and translating findings into customer-focused recommendations
Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
Ability to travel within an assigned geography to support customers, field activities, and business initiatives
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and agricultural technology tools
Knowledge of agronomic practices, industry trends, regulatory requirements, and emerging technologies
Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) certification preferred or ability to obtain
Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agriculture, Plant Science, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred
Your Digital & Technology Capabilities:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Microsoft Teams, and agricultural technology platforms to support collaboration, customer engagement, and technical field activities
Ability to analyze agronomic, research, and field performance data to support data-driven recommendations and business decision-making
Comfort leveraging AI-powered tools, such as Microsoft Copilot, along with emerging digital technologies and workflow automation solutions to enhance productivity and knowledge sharing

Compensation and Benefits:
In compliance with all states and cities requiring transparency of pay, the base compensation for this position ranges from $69,000 - $92,080. Note that salary may vary based on location, skills, and experience.
This position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and vacation, holidays, health, dental, vision, mental health, and retirement plan participation, including an employer contribution of up to 7% into your 401(k).
