What You'll Do:

  • Administer one or more key infrastructure components or services, such as file transfer services, processing platforms, Middleware, web infrastructure, network, communication systems, collaboration systems, Imaging systems, storage systems, data management, data base systems, scheduling services, and systems management technologies.
  • Set, monitor, and manage systems thresholds to ensure business service level objectives are met consistently. Systems users include all employees, field agents, agency staff and external customers via web sites.
  • Plan and deliver solutions to fulfill technical work orders; resolve incident tickets; research root cause, identify and install corrections to prevent problem occurrence. Develop and manage plans to upgrade systems and maintain vendor support currency; apply corrective code patches; monitor and tune system components to meet performance, availability, security, continuity, retention and related requirements.
  • Follow FBL IT standards for change, incident, problem and project management to ensure systems and data are secured and operated in accordance with retention, legal, audit and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain consistent, quality documentation to meet ongoing operations and business continuity requirements. Documentation will include system topologies, operating instructions and disaster recovery procedures for new and changed infrastructure.
  • Participate in the planning, evaluation, selection, recommendation and purchase of systems software and hardware. Evaluate new hardware and software against requirements by reviewing vendor specifications, and validating operations by testing in our environment. Assist in developing project plans and deliver results in alignment with those plans.
  • Provide 24 hour on call support for infrastructure to support business service levels.

What it takes to join our team:

  • College degree or equivalent plus five years relevant experience required. MIS or computer science related degree preferred.
  • Must have at least one to two years of experience supporting shared infrastructure in an enterprise consisting of multiple business units.
  • Must have in-depth skills supporting one or more of the following key enterprise infrastructure services or technology platforms: data networks, application computing platforms, storage area networks, data base system infrastructures, middleware technologies, security infrastructure technologies, and or document management technology.
  • Must have analytical and problem solving skills, logical information organization skills.
  • Ability to conceptualize potential, new, or changed infrastructure solution designs to satisfy changing business requirements.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Maintain knowledge and skills current in alignment with industry technology developments.
  • On-call responsibility to support network 24/7.
  • Oral and written communication skills as appropriate for this position.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
  • Reasonably regular and predictable attendance.
