Overview
Top level contributor and technical expert in the area of Windows, Linux/Unix, and virtualization. Understands other contributing technologies required to deliver services on all platforms. Responsible for the overall integration & integrity of the enterprise-wide network including the planning, design, installation, maintenance, management, and security of the Windows, Unix and Linux systems. Their system knowledge and proven skill sets coupled with their level of experience allows them to work independently and to provide technical guidance to co-workers.
Responsibilities
- Resolve problems, including identifying potential problems before they become critical and identifying, evaluating, and analyzing resolution options
- Document configurations, instructional procedures, change management records, performance and growth analysis reports
- Manage hardware and software vendors, including support calls and maintenance performed by vendor engineers
- Track vendor hardware and software support lifecycles
- Perform project, capacity, and budget planning, including identifying projects, developing project tasks and timelines, estimating future capacity requirements, obtaining budgetary quotes, and determining interoperability requirements for hardware and software
- Evaluate and recommend new hardware and software technologies
- Mentor / cross-train fellow system administrators
- Provide escalated support to Level I and Level II System Administrators
- Work with the company trouble ticketing system and provides end user support. Manages work orders to meet or exceed SLAs.
- Creates and maintains server configuration and disaster recovery documentation.
- Tracks industry trends and maintains knowledge of new technologies to better serve the enterprise's architecture needs.
- Ability to work within ITIL framework for incident management and change process
- Assist in the development of architecture governance process
- Provide guidance and training to other technical staff
- Performs other tasks as assigned.
- Conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the standards set out in the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, its policies and procedures, the Corporate Compliance Agreement, applicable federal and state laws, and applicable professional standards.
Qualifications
Education/Learning Experience
- Required: College Graduate or equivalent work experience
- Desired: BS in Computer Science, Industry Standard Certifications
Work Experience
- Required: Minimum 10 years of server administration experience in a combination of Windows Server 2003-2019 Server; Active Directory; MS SQL 2008-2016, MS IIS, and MS Exchange 2003-2016; 5-7 years of experience VMware ESXi in a large-scale enterprise; Minimum 5 years of experience in Unix and/or Linux environments (preferably with IBM AIX Unix)
- Desired: 3-5 years of experience of load balancing technology (F5/Netscaler); 3-5 years of experience of disaster recovery; 3-5 years of experience working with IBM Power server platform
Skills/Knowledge
- Required: Advanced knowledge with OS, Hardware, and Software troubleshooting skills; Strong TCP/IP fundamentals including routing, subnets, network sniffing, DNS, and DHCP
- Required: Proficiency in MS applications (Word, Excel, Access, etc)
- Required: Replication software experience.
- Required: System awareness and tuning skills.
- Required: Disaster Recover planning and implementation.
- Required: Documentation under ITIL standards
- Desired: Service-Now service management platform
Licenses/Certifications
- Desired: MCSE 2008/2012/2016, VCP, CCNA
Behavior Competencies
