We are seeking a highly experienced Systems Engineer Lead – Servers (Azure/AWS + Storage & Infrastructure) to architect, modernize, and sustain mission-critical server and storage environments in secure federal programs. This role provides senior technical leadership across Windows/Linux servers, enterprise storage platforms, and hybrid cloud architectures leveraging Azure and AWS. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in enterprise storage technologies (NetApp, Dell EMC, HPE), along with experience designing and running server workloads integrated with Azure/AWS services, hybrid identity, security baselines, and cloud-connected infrastructure.
What You Will Do:
Lead engineering, operations, and modernization of server infrastructures across on‑prem, virtualized, hybrid, and cloud-connected environments (Azure/AWS).
Architect, deploy, secure, and optimize Windows Server and Linux platforms supporting mission applications.
Manage and engineer storage systems including NetApp, Dell EMC, and HPE, covering provisioning, performance tuning, tiering, and data protection.
Integrate server and storage operations with Azure and AWS cloud services (e.g., Files, Blob/S3 storage, hybrid identities, cloud-managed backup/DR, monitoring).
Implement and maintain hybrid cloud architectures, including domain services, cloud identity (Azure AD/Entra, AWS IAM), and secure connectivity.
Oversee patching, STIG hardening, backup/restore, replication, HA/DR strategies, and vulnerability remediation.
Troubleshoot complex server/storage issues and serve as senior escalation point across distributed federal environments.
Maintain detailed engineering documentation, SOPs, diagrams, and secure configuration baselines.
Collaborate with cybersecurity, cloud, networking, database, and application teams to ensure aligned, compliant infrastructure operations.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to automation, monitoring, and infrastructure-as-code adoption.
What You Will Need:
U.S. Citizenship is required.
An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED "TOP SECRET" Federal or DoD security clearance and ability to obtain SCI.
Minimum of Six (6) years of experience in server engineering, enterprise storage, or infrastructure leadership.
Bachelor's degree or four(4) additional years of experience is needed in lieu of degree.
Expert-level knowledge of Windows Server, virtualization (VMware/Hyper‑V), directory services, DNS, and enterprise identity.
Hands-on experience with large-scale storage systems (NetApp, Dell EMC, or HPE) and related backup/recovery ecosystems.
Experience deploying and managing server/storage integrations with Azure and/or AWS (Azure Files, Blob, AWS S3/EFS/FSx, hybrid connectors, monitoring, identity).
Background supporting federal, DoD, or secure, compliance-driven environments.
Familiarity with STIGs, NIST 800‑53, RMF, vulnerability remediation, and hardening practices.
Proven leadership ability to guide technical teams and coordinate across multi-disciplinary engineering groups.
Strong communication, documentation, and analytical skills.
What Would Be Nice To Have:
NetApp NCDA / NCIE.
Dell EMC Proven Professional.
HPE ASE (Accredited Solutions Expert).
Security+ (strongly preferred for DoD 8570 compliance).
Experience integrating Azure/AWS storage services with on‑prem infrastructures.
Familiarity with hybrid identity (Azure AD/Entra, AWS IAM Identity Center), conditional access, and cloud security controls.
Strong PowerShell, Bash, or Python automation/scripting skills.
Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible, ARM/Bicep, CloudFormation).
Knowledge of Zero Trust principles and cloud security baselines.
Experience with monitoring and SIEM tools (CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Splunk, Elastic).
Support for multi-site replication, business continuity, and enterprise DR solutions.
