POSITION OVERVIEW

Honeywell is seeking an accomplished Senior Systems Engineering Manager to drive leadership and advancement within our Aerospace Lighting Systems business. This pivotal role is responsible for defining technical strategies, inspiring innovation, and executing excellence throughout the entire product lifecycle—from concept and proposal through system delivery and support. The Senior Systems Engineering Manager will also focus on building and leading high-performing engineering teams and continuously improving engineering processes.

The successful candidate will bring substantial expertise in aerospace lighting systems , integration of complex systems, and compliance with global aerospace certification standards. This leader will provide strategic and technical direction to drive business growth and foster the development of engineering talent.


Senior Systems Engineering Manager (Lighting Systems) – Lighting Systems Center of Excellence (COE)


Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a compelling vision for the Lighting Systems COE, providing clear communication to align diverse and experienced team members. Build differentiated capabilities (current and future) and capacity aligned to long-term global strategic frameworks and annual plans. Leverage the local ecosystem for speed and complementary capabilities (universities, suppliers, startups).
  • Drive a culture of business-driven innovation to build a strong pipeline of market- and customer-backed, technology-forward offerings, focusing on core and emerging areas such as smart lighting, sustainable solutions, and connected ecosystems. Work actively with cross-functional teams (strategy, marketing, product management) in the front-end innovation process (opportunity pipeline, prioritization) leading to breakthrough ideas and new product introductions (NPIs).
  • Responsible for overseeing Lighting Systems Center of Excellence (COE) product development program execution at Honeywell India.
  • Lead multiple product development teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement to reduce development cycle times and costs, with a focus on quality. Utilize organizational best practices and frameworks (Agile, Honeywell Operating System).
  • Attract, build, and retain talent in core areas and emerging domains (connected lighting, sustainability, advanced laser fiber technology), while driving strategic infrastructure investments (capital & operational expenditure).
  • Establish strong operating systems with engineering internal stakeholders (global teams, peers, engineering COEs) and external partners (product managers, leadership, cross-business groups) of the Lighting Systems COE and Aero leadership (regional and global).
  • Collaborate with High Growth Region (HGR) India regional business teams (technology and product sales/business development leadership) to connect with regional customers (key account management) and identify new opportunities (co-creation, co-innovation), including proposal development and technical bidding processes.


Qualifications

Must have:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering (preferably in electrical/electronics/mechanical). 15+ years of experience in product and technology development.
  • Proven ability to lead & influence multi-disciplinary and global teams
  • Strong understanding of certification and regulatory frameworks
  • Experience in NPI, product lifecycle, and strong understanding of end products, customers, markets, and business dynamics within the lighting industry.

  • Ability to balance technical depth with business outcomes

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering

  • Strong understanding of certification and regulatory frameworks (aerospace)
