We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior System Administrator specializing in WiFi to join our IT Infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-level WiFi networks, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability. This role requires deep technical expertise in wireless networking, troubleshooting, and network security, as well as the ability to lead projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Architecture:
  • Design, deploy, and manage enterprise-grade WiFi networks across multiple locations.
  • Develop and maintain WiFi network architecture, including access points, controllers, and related infrastructure.
  • Optimize network performance by configuring wireless LAN (WLAN) components and ensuring proper channel planning and interference mitigation.
  • Installation and Configuration:
  • Install, configure, and manage wireless access points, controllers, and related hardware and software.
  • Implement advanced WiFi features such as VLANs, QoS, and traffic shaping to support various applications and services.
  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
  • Monitor WiFi network performance and utilization using network management tools.
  • Troubleshoot complex wireless networking issues, including connectivity problems, performance degradation, and security incidents.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of network issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Security and Compliance:
  • Implement and manage WiFi security protocols, including WPA3, 802.1X, and RADIUS authentication.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and audits of the WiFi infrastructure to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Manage guest WiFi networks, ensuring secure and controlled access for visitors.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain detailed documentation of WiFi network configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Provide regular reports on WiFi network performance, security status, and project progress to IT leadership.
  • Project Management:
  • Lead WiFi-related projects, including network upgrades, expansions, and technology evaluations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the deployment of WiFi solutions for new facilities or services.
  • Training and Support:
  • Provide training and support to IT staff and end-users on WiFi best practices and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for all WiFi-related inquiries and escalations.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure with a focus on wireless networking.
  • Lan/Wan Networking Experience
  • Firewalls, Routers and Switches Networking Experience
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-level WiFi networks.
  • Extensive experience with WiFi technologies, including 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax, WLAN controllers, and RF site surveys.
  • Certifications:
  • Relevant certifications such as CWNA, CWNP, CCNA Wireless, or equivalent are highly preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of WiFi protocols, RF principles, and network security best practices.
  • Experience with network management tools (e.g., Cisco Prime, Aruba AirWave, Ekahau) for monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of IP networking, routing, switching, and VLANs.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
