Sr. Systems Administrator

Position Overview
The Sr. Systems Administrator is responsible for overseeing all servers and network administration, ensuring the efficient functioning of the IT infrastructure.
This position requires extensive expertise in installing, maintaining, and upgrading servers (both hardware and software) and managing network stability. The Senior Systems Administrator plays a crucial role in ensuring data security, business continuity, and efficient technical support.
Core Responsibilities
- Answer technical queries and provide technical support to users, addressing system-related issues.
- Analyze system logs to identify potential issues with computer systems and take appropriate actions to resolve them.
- Perform routine audits of systems and software to ensure they are up-to-date and functioning optimally.
- Perform backups to safeguard critical data and ensure data integrity.
- Install and maintain various network and computer peripherals, such as Linux servers, Windows servers, VoIP servers, printers, and network appliances.
- Apply operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes to keep servers and systems up-to-date and secure.
- Plan, coordinate, and install various operating system and application software on servers and workstations.
- Implement and maintain customer network services, including printing, user accounts and passwords in Linux and Active Directory, VoIP operations, and identity and access management.
- Administer and manage VMware infrastructure to ensure virtualization efficiency and reliability.
- Review and design basic shell scripts for Linux maintenance using languages like Perl and Awk.
- Document the configuration of various systems and servers to maintain a comprehensive record of the IT environment.
- Implement, maintain, and update security standards and policies to protect systems and data.
- Monitor user accounts for anomalous behavior to ensure network security.
- Interact with staff assigned to applications development to support the integration of new applications with the existing infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network connectivity problems to ensure smooth operations.
- Interface with network and technical operations staff as well as engineering staff to collaborate on IT initiatives.
- Manage cloud-based workloads and services to leverage cloud technology efficiently.
- Perform related duties as assigned to support the overall IT infrastructure and operations.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or relevant experience in lieu of a degree. A graduate degree is a plus but not required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Systems Administrator role, showcasing expertise in server and network administration.
- Minimum of 3 years of Linux server experience, preferably with Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server.
- Minimum of 3 years of Windows server and Active Directory experience, ensuring proficiency in Windows environments.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting cloud-based workloads and/or services with platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google.
- Ability and willingness to participate in an on-call rotation to address critical IT issues outside regular business hours.
- Ability and willingness to occasionally work during nights, weekends, and holidays
Special Work Conditions
Sedentary – Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Some positions may entail exerting up to 15 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, or pull.
Compensation is commensurate with various factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, qualifications, skills, training, licensure, certifications, geographic cost of labor, and other business and organizational needs. Compensation range for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location.
The compensation range for this position is:
$100,000—$140,000 USD
