Due to significant growth, we are searching for a Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer focused on Safety Systems.  

This role demands technical expertise and soft skills to provide guidance and leadership to suppliers and internal customers to promptly resolve supplier quality issues and ensure a seamless transition of new products into mass production. The Sr. SQE- Safety will be responsible for mass production supplier management, ensuring best-in-class supplier quality, and safeguarding manufacturing operations by working closely with Manufacturing, Plant Quality, Material Planning, Logistics, NPI teams, and external suppliers. 

You must be able to guide upfront design development and roll up your sleeves with suppliers to create new manufacturing methods and control strategies to achieve ambitious specifications and ensure flawless execution during launch. 

You Will: 

  • Act as the Senior Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) for Safety Sytems including Air Bags and Restraints. 
  • SME in Geometric Dimensional Tolerancing (GDT) and application for inspection setup and tolerancing allowances of molded components. 
  • Use of Statistical Tools (Design of Experiments, Measurement System Analysis/Gage R&R, Process Capability, and Statistical Process Control) 
  • Have supplier quality responsibility for all Safety System components including tiered level components that are assembled at tier 1 suppliers to Lucid products.  
  • Manage, and improve the suppliers from the initial design stage through continuous improvements in production efficiency gains and cost savings projects.
  • Support design reviews and ensure manufacturing lessons learned are considered in future design.  
  • Be responsible for Driving and Tracking all internal engineering design changes and Change Management activities.
  • Be able to work independently and make decisions in the best interest of Lucid and its business.
  • Develop quality plans, design test methods and gages, identify potential failure modes and process weaknesses, and drive preventative actions.
  • Work cross-functionally with plant-level manufacturing, incoming quality, material planning, and SQEs to ensure supplier quality issues are contained and Lucid customers are protected. 
  • Investigate supplier quality issues to determine root cause, identify and implement corrective actions, and drive long-term preventative actions.
  • Perform supplier audits and site inspections; develop process improvement plans and drive implementation; monitor and maintain performance metrics.
  • Support system assembly build, define incoming parts inspection procedures as needed, track build issues, and drive suppliers for containment actions and long-term actions.
  • Have the ability to travel 30-40% on average on a short-term or long-term basis to supplier sites globally on short notice.

You Bring: 

  • BS in Engineering, MS preferred. 
  • 5+ years of High-volume manufacturing and assembly plant experience supporting Automotive Safety Components in a Supplier Quality, Quality Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering role.
  • Engineering analysis including tolerance analysis, stress analysis, mold flow analysis, and DFM.
  • Hands-on supplier quality, SQE, APQP, and PPAP experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and drawings and in-depth knowledge of quality standards and specifications in the area of placement.
  • Excellent analytical and technical writing abilities and a comprehensive understanding of quality toolbox (IATF 16949, SPC, MSA, FMEA, DOE, GD&T, etc.).
  • Certification preferred - American Society for Quality, Six Sigma Black Belt, etc. 
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills, hands-on and data-driven, creative mindset in problem-solving.
  • Positive attitude, willingness to learn, be part of the solution and be able to adapt to the dynamic working environment.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of Smartsheets, JMP, Minitab, JIRA and Tableau is a plus.
