Job Summary:
Carrying out design engineering for bridges and other structures. Provide design sketches and reports required for schematic, design development and construction phases of projects. Provide detailed engineering computations and analysis of bridges. Preparation of structural briefing, specification documents and tender documents. Attending technical/progress meeting with clients. Develop design concepts and construction methodologies and provide leadership project execution. Assists/supervise the preparation of design drawings. Strong knowledge of structural principles and design codes. Mentor and train junior engineers and designers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for all Structural design activities for the project, including all quality control and checking of designs.
- Review all project related information including previous design reports and Feasibility Study
- Plan, organize and manage all structural designs and outputs as required.
- Provide professional and competent structural engineering. The services would include field work (limited), analysis, design and reporting.
- Analysis and design of all structural elements from foundations to above ground works across a range of materials including timber, masonry, concrete (both reinforced and pre /post tensioned) and steel.
- Be able to liaise with Client and other stakeholders independently during the design process and ensure client requirements are clearly identified and addressed.
- Liaise with other disciplines involved in the Project such as the architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil and rail teams to ensure all structures are fit for purpose, code compliant and meet the Client’s requirements.
- Provide clear and concise reports related to the design, and in accordance with the Client requirements.
- Review and check CADD and drafting outputs in relation to Structural design.
- Certify under seal all Structural engineering designs and drawings.
- Assist in the preparation of Specifications and Bills of Quantities as required.
Qualifications:
- Recognised Engineering Degree (civil or structural).
- At least 10 years’ experience on structural (commercial and industrial) projects in the Philippines geographic footprint.
- Demonstrated experience of structural design in all materials (steel, concrete, masonry and timber) including seismic design.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing structural design teams involving major infrastructure projects
- Proficiency in structural analysis software including STAAD, MIDAS, ROBOT and other analysis and design software as may be required
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc)
- Able to present designs to a wider audience for the purposes of peer review and auditing
- A good understanding of major project delivery methods.
- Ability to communicate (oral and in writing) effectively in English to furnish reports.
- Demonstrated technical ability
- Proven ability to work independently and as a member of a team and to prioritise own workload to meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Desire and willingness to learn and work in a dynamic environment.
- MIDAS Civil, MIDAS GEN and STAAD Software Proficient
