Summary:
An exciting sourcing leadership opportunity with a premier fast-growing biotech and a global leader in genetic sequencing. This role will shape the supply chain of Illumina’s consumables, thus shaping the efficiency of genetic sequencing technology overall to allow for mass scale adoption, maximizing the benefits of genetic information for all.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to apply your expert knowledge to solve problems while working on more complex supply chain problems.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Lead sustaining sourcing activities for on-market products.
- Provide functional leadership and direction for sustaining products.
- Lead the sustaining roadmap creation and implementation of category strategies for assigned categories.
- Negotiate various types of agreements (i.e., supply, scheduling, consignment, statement of work, CDAs, etc.) achieving favorable terms that mitigate business risks and protect Illumina’s IP while reducing product cost and inventory levels.
- Strengthen core supplier relationships to reduce business risk and support manufacturing site escalations.
- Leads site level / product cost reduction initiatives via value engineering, cost negotiation and resourcing efforts.
- Collaborate with suppliers to develop capabilities, supply continuity, and capacity.
- Lead core supplier quarterly business reviews resulting in supplier performance improvements through collaboration with R&D, Operations, and Quality.
- Ensure system data is set up correctly for suppliers under areas of responsibility to facilitate efficient ‘Procure to Pay’ processes.
- Lead and manage continuous improvement initiatives within Global Supply Chain.
- Partner with key stakeholders to achieve functional and company goals.

- Experience creating and leading complex electronic sourcing events in Ariba.
- Ensures system data is set up correctly for suppliers under areas of responsibility to facilitate efficient ‘Procure to Pay’ processes.
- Solid understanding of industry financial / category trends and leverage these to improve Illumina’s supply chain.
- Aptitude to understand suppliers key cost drivers, interpret basic financial and balance sheet reporting, and provide recommendations.
- Strong negotiator; ability to negotiate the best deal for ILMN and influence upward.
- International sourcing and supplier management experience; preferably in area of responsibility.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time; both domestic and international.
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office (Project, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Education:
- Minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s Degree; or 10 years and a Master’s degree, or a PhD with 7 years of experience; or equivalent experience.
