Job Summary
As a member of the Arlo Device Engineering team, you will lead the development of video surveillance cameras, video doorbells, home monitoring and security systems, sensors, IoT devices, and related software features for global sales channels and service provider partners.
These products leverage technologies including Wi-Fi, BLE, Sub-G, NFC, Zigbee, Z-Wave, Ethernet, IP networking (DNS/DHCP, HTTP, SNMP), embedded Linux, mobile and web applications, and cloud services.
The primary responsibility of the Device Program Manager is to own the program lifecycle from kickoff through mass production and full product launch. You will drive cross-functional execution across hardware, software, services, quality, manufacturing, and customer care, ensuring on-time delivery and high product quality.
Responsibilities may include scheduling, budget tracking, ODM and supplier management, BOM and material planning, prototype and factory builds, sample distribution, end-to-end quality and system testing, and hardware troubleshooting, while coordinating day-to-day activities across engineering and partner teams.
Occasional travel is required to support meetings with internal teams, partners, and ODM/factory sites in Vietnam, Taiwan, or China.
Responsibilities and Duties
Partner with Product Management on product roadmap planning
Own end-to-end product development across HW, FW, SW (client & cloud), and mechanical engineering
Manage schedules, BOMs, build plans, material planning, and cross-functional execution
Lead overseas ODM partners, factory builds, and design reviews
Drive regulatory certifications and compliance for product launches
Oversee product SKUs, collaterals, and engineering sample distribution
Manage test planning, execution, and reporting (system, functional, performance, Alpha/Beta)
Track and resolve issues through development, launch, and sustaining phases
Provide technical support to customer care and address field issues
Lead post-launch sustaining activities and continuous improvement
Host project meetings and reviews with internal teams and ODMs
Support management in refining project development and departmental processes
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent technical discipline) with 5+ years of relevant experience, including ownership of programs successfully launched to market
Strong project management skills with excellent written and verbal communication
Self-motivated, results-driven, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Demonstrated ownership in proactively identifying issues and driving them to resolution
Strong collaboration skills and ability to work closely with cross-functional teams and external partners
Technically proficient across end-to-end systems, including HW, FW, mobile applications, and cloud services, with hands-on testing and troubleshooting capability
Hardware engineering experience (PCB design/layout, schematics, debugging)
Software engineering experience (architecture, design, coding, Agile development, JIRA bug tracking, debugging)
Mandarin language proficiency is a plus, but not required
The pay range for this position reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries at commencement of employment and is expected to be between CAD$123,500 - $160,000/year. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including role, job-related knowledge, skills, relevant education and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including bonus, equity, and a full range of benefits.
