Summary of the Job:

 

Role Description: Responsible for the completion of legal documents served on FNBO for attachment to bank accounts, and correspondence directly affecting bank. Responsible for using previous opinions from legal counsel and knowing when to bring issues to the attention of management to request a legal opinion. Responsible for the completion of various projects of minor to moderate complexity.

Key Accountabilities:

Assigned Tasks: Department functions that could be daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annually

  • Responsible for the day-to-day process for completing various types of Garnishments, Levies, and other attachments to bank accounts served on First National Bank Omaha.
  • Work with local and federal courts, state and federal agencies and attorneys to respond to Garnishments, Levies and other attachments, in a timely and efficient manner.  Notify customers of Garnishments and Levies and answer subsequent questions.
  • Drafting a variety of legal correspondence involving the company's interests or the interests of customers.  This could include Garnishments, Child Support Orders and Inquiries, Third-Party requests for information, Dept. Of Revenue Levies, IRS Levies, Distress Warrants.
  • Responsible for assisting internal and external customers, banks, channels with processes and procedures related to legal support for FNN Legal

Cross Functional Working Relationships (CFWR): Work collaboratively with peers and management to maintain Service Level Agreements with all assigned CFWR

  • Work collaboratively with FNN Legal peers and management to find solutions for any identified problems or needed improvements to gain efficiencies to the process
  • Provide input and work collaboratively with peers and management on technology and systems utilized in FNN Legal
  • Communicate effectively to FNN Legal peers and management on situations requiring attention

Compliance: Understand and comply with bank policy, laws, regulations, and the bank's BSA/AML Program, as applicable to your job duties

  • Complete compliance training and adhere to internal procedures and controls, as required.
  • Report any known violations of compliance policy, laws, or regulations
  • Report any suspicious customer and/or account activity via the proper channels
  • Provide support for departmental reviews as requested by management
  • Follow bank policy regarding records management

Professionalism/Attendance: Exhibit professional behavior and promote positive working relationships. Maintain regular and predictable attendance in alignment with departmental/divisional policy

  • Adhere to all First National Bank and department policies and procedures including but not limited to: Code of Ethics, confidentiality, and legal requirements for calls and dress code

The Ideal Candidate for This Role:

 

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or legal experience or equivalent internal banking knowledge
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task
  • General knowledge of computer skills (Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel)
  • Strong Hogan system knowledge desired
  • Prior Retail banking experience desired (account ownership/teller training)
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.

Desired:

  • Knowledge of Banking Regulations
  • Knowledge of banking processes such as holding company, subsidiaries, branch, and other affiliated companies.
  • College degree, Juris Doctorate or Paralegal Certification

Candidates must possess unrestricted work authorization and not require future sponsorship.

Compensation:

 

Compensation range (base pay): $37,454.00-$59,927.00

This role may have a specific starting pay within this range.

Final compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon work experience, education, and/or skill level.

Work Environment:

It is anticipated that the incumbent in this role will work in a hybrid capacity, balancing in-person collaboration three (3) days a week with remote flexibility two (2) days a week. As part of our team, you'll experience the energy and relationship-building of face-to-face collaboration while still enjoying the flexibility of remote workdays. We provide the tools and technology to ensure seamless transitions between work environments, supporting your productivity wherever you are. Please note that work location is subject to change based on business needs.
