We are seeking a highly organized and detail-driven Senior Specialist to lead the administration and compliance of our asbestos training program. In this critical role, you will ensure all training activities meet federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, while supporting a safe, qualified, and compliant workforce across the organization. Youll serve as a key connector between internal teams, training providers, and regulatory agenciesdriving seamless program execution, audit readiness, and continuous improvement.

This position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a STEM OPT Training Plan.

ResponsibilitiesCore Responsibilities
  • Oversee end-to-end coordination of the asbestos training program, ensuring alignment with all regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Schedule and manage training sessions, partnering with external vendors, instructors, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Maintain accurate training records and ensure timely submission of required applications, certifications, abstracts, and documentation to the applicable regulatory agencies (New York State Department of Labor & New York City Department of Environmental Protection).
  • Administer and maintain training data within the companys training system [AM1.1], ensuring integrity, accuracy, and accessibility.
  • Issue and track employee certifications and qualifications, always ensuring workforce readiness and compliance.
  • Prepare documentation and support internal and external audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
  • Act as a trusted liaison across field teams, leadership, training providers, and regulatory bodies to support program effectiveness.
  • Perform contractor oversight of the training providers and ensure adherence with program specifications.
  • Assume the role of Director for company administered asbestos training courses, governed by the New York State Department of Health.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.
QualificationsRequired Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma/GED and 7 years of relevant work experience or
  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of related work experience or
  • Master's Degree and 3 years of related work experience
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or Business Administration (BBA) and 5 years of related work experience including thorough understanding of asbestos related regulation & training requirements for NYS & NYC.
  • Master's Degree in Environmental Science or Business Administration (BBA) and 3 years of related work experience including thorough understanding of asbestos related regulation & training requirements for NYS & NYC.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Demonstrated high energy level, flexibility and the ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments while working under aggressive timelines, required.
  • Demonstrated professional demeanor, confidence dealing with all levels of management/union personnel, and the ability to work with sensitive and confidential information, required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and/or an ability to quickly become proficient with software and systems including Microsoft Office, Power BI, IBM Maximo, CRS, and RCRA info e-Manifest, required.
  • Current or former asbestos accreditation (handler, supervisor project monitor), preferred.
  • Working experience in an accredited training program, preferred.
  • Experience working for a regulatory agency with oversight of asbestos, preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local EH&S regulations, preferred.
