In June 2025, Crane announced our intent to acquire Precision Sensors & Instrumentation (“PSI”), a leading provider of sensor-based technologies for aerospace, nuclear and process industries, from Baker Hughes. The $1.1 billion acquisition will add roughly $400 million in sales and 1,700 associates to Crane. PSI includes the Panametrics, Druck, and Reuter-Stokes brands that manufacture instrumentation and sensor-based technologies to detect and analyze pressure, flow, gas, moisture, and radiation across various industries, serving customers in more than 90 countries. OPPORTUNITY

This exciting opportunity is part of the nuclear business. The acquisition of Reuter- Stokes enables the nuclear business to expand their strong foothold in the nuclear industry. With the acquisition, we will be able to provide additional solutions to support the industry. These solutions include precise radiation measurement, nuclear reactor monitoring, UV flame detection, and downhole sensing for directional drilling.

Reuter-Stokes designs, develops and manufactures world-class sensor technology designed to provide precision measurements in the harshest environments, supporting critical industries across the globe, including: 

  • The nuclear sector, where our unique neutron detection technology is essential for the safe and efficient operation of nuclear reactors.  Every operational nuclear power plant on the planet with a Boiling Water Reactor relies on Reuter-Stokes’ technology
  • In the oil and gas industry, Reuter-Stokes’ downhole sensors are critical for enhancing directional drilling performance
  • Reuter-Stokes’ precise radiation measurement technology is widely deployed in homeland security, space exploration and other sectors
  • Reuter-Stokes’ flame trackers feature in half of the world’s gas turbines accruing more than 500 million operating hours

Today, more than 100,000 Reuter-Stokes detectors are deployed around the world providing accurate and reliable data that enable our customers to advance safety performance and productivity. 

Reuter-Stokes’ Senior Sourcing Manager is instrumental in achieving overall profitability of the company through continuous improvement of the supplier base, cost-value proposition, and implementation of end-to-end supplier due diligence processes and procedures from NPI to product release processes.  This person will maintain and develop relationships with suppliers and negotiate contracts collaborating internally and externally anticipating our supply chain needs as our team grows.  We rely on this critical leader to evaluate and analyze global trends to optimize our supply chain, lead time, and cost opportunities.  This person will set and meet department goals and is responsible for the overall sourcing budget and planning process.  Extensive knowledge of sourcing and supply chain management processes is required. This position may require up to 30% travel annually both domestic and international.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain Suppliers relationships (both indirect and direct) developing and negotiating supplier agreements for pricing, supply, terms and conditions and monitor progress optimizing value for our team looking at total cost of ownership in addition to price.
  • Develop a sourcing strategy based on single and sole source mitigation and vendor value.
  • Lead supply chain efforts for end of life and obsolescence.
  • Lead supplier quality engineering people and processes.
  • Visit key vendors regularly and develop new strategic vendors that fit business needs.
  • As needed to fulfill these responsibilities, perform supplier visits to evaluate performance and maintain constructive business relationships.
  • Lead vendor qualification and surveillance efforts across functions including developing an effective supplier scoring system.
  • Initiate and maintain supplier agreements to facilitate supplier sustainability and risk mitigation.
  • Manage KPIs related to inflation, deflation, and tariffs; implement programs to minimize business exposure in these areas.
  • Implement additional KPIs as needed to ensure business objectives are met.
  • Collaborate with operations and commercial team to ensure SAP is optimized and workflows are in place ensuring forecasts are in place and accurate and part updates are current and maintained.
  • Collaborate/develop standard cadence for master data review.
  • Support engineering and technology groups in New Product Development and associated supplier selection so that future products are based on sustainable sourcing strategies.
  • Communicate and collaborate both internally and externally to optimize business performance.
  • Lead a team of direct reports including sourcing specialists, buyers, and supplier quality engineers.
  • Comply with all safety and corporate guidelines on business ethics.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or similar degree. APICS certification preferred
  • 10+ years’ experience in sourcing and supply chain management in industrial businesses or equivalent experience including a strong knowledge of sourcing and supply chain management.
  • Proven experience with manufacturing and distribution systems (including experience with ERP/MRP systems), and excellent supplier development and negotiating skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience reviewing and negotiating terms and conditions as it relates to supply chain agreements.
  • Advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Access).
  • Must be a results-oriented self-starter with excellent leadership skills.
  • Proven success working within highly regulated environments (nuclear, medical, food, etc.).
  • Ability to develop, learn and adapt to new systems, processes, and programs as needed.
  • Experience leading a team of sourcing experts including strategic sourcing partners, supplier quality engineers, and buyers.
