Job Description:
The Corporate Technology Sr. Solution Engineer plays a critical role in enabling Mars’ sustainability ambition by bridging sustainability strategy, regulatory requirements, and digital technology delivery.
This role partners closely with Sustainability, Risk, Legal, and Corporate teams to translate regulatory, reporting, and performance needs into practical, scalable digital solutions that support environmental impact measurement, transparency, and decision‑making.
The role operates with high autonomy and strategic accountability, accountable for defining the best practices for the Solution Engineering team and collaborating with the development team to ensure transparency and accountability for delivering innovative solutions for our Corporate stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a senior trusted advisor to our Corporate stakeholders on digital enablement strategy.
Translate sustainability ambition, regulatory direction, and emerging risks into coherent digital roadmaps.
Represent Corporate Technology confidently in senior sustainability forums and cross‑functional leadership discussions.
Provide functional leadership and direction to Solution Engineer roles, setting standards for effective corporate technology partnering.
Develop a strong understanding of Mars sustainability priorities, including climate, packaging, nature, and human rights topics.
Lead the translation of complex sustainability needs (e.g., GHG accounting, regulatory disclosures, supply chain data, impact transparency) into clear, outcome‑based problem statements.
Challenge unclear or solution‑led requests to ensure focus on business value, regulatory readiness, and scalability.
Work with key business stakeholders to create proof of concept solutions leveraging basic coding and Power BI
Guide prioritization decisions across sustainability initiatives based on risk, value, and delivery feasibility.
Help shift stakeholders from “tool requests” toward outcome‑based sustainability solutions.
Support prioritization by assessing regulatory urgency, business impact, feasibility, and delivery complexity.
Ensure requirements are clearly understood by delivery teams and aligned to enterprise standards.
Contribute to solution design for sustainability platforms and tools (e.g., emissions calculation, data ingestion, reporting, analytics).
Collaborate with architects, data engineers, and vendors to shape fit‑for‑purpose, scalable solutions.
Define and recommend solution patterns that ensure data quality, auditability, traceability, and compliance.
Review and challenge solution designs to ensure alignment with sustainability intent and enterprise architecture.
Ensure designs are delivery‑ready and clearly understood by teams executing the work.
Translate high‑level designs into delivery‑ready artifacts (epics, features, acceptance criteria).
Coach and mentor Solution Engineers, strengthening sustainability translation capability.
Establish and reinforce best practices, templates, and ways of working for sustainability enablement.
Support capability building across Corporate Technology and Sustainability teams
Contribute to communities of practice and cross‑domain learning
Job Specifications/Qualifications
Education & Professional Qualification
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree
Desired: PMI / PRINCE certifications; PMP / PgMP / PfMP / PRINCE2
Knowledge/Experience
7 years + of solution engineer experience focusing on cross-platform Data and Analytics solutions
Understanding of digital platforms, data pipelines, and analytics in an enterprise environment.
Ability to engage meaningfully in solution design discussions (technical fluency rather than coding).
Analytical mindset with attention to data quality, controls, and traceability.
Experience in system integration lifecycle including system design and deployment, systems integration, data migration, and data model design.
Proven track record leading complex, cross‑functional initiatives without formal line authority.
Ability to remain flexible and resilient under pressure and comfortable in dealing with ambiguity in a fast-moving portfolio of activity.
Programming/scripting experience is a plus.
Familiarity with automation and low-code/no-code platforms awareness, such as – SNOW, Automation Anywhere, Power Automate, Power Apps etc.
Familiarity with sustainability management platforms/tools ( Environmental impact assessment, carbon accounting, regulatory compliance etc.)
Awareness of sustainability regulatory compliance
