Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our Yugabyte Aeon team. This role will focus on enhancing and maintaining Yugabyte Aeon, which enables seamless deployment and management of YugabyteDB across various public cloud environments and on-premise infrastructures. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building SaaS applications using Java as well as distributed systems at scale using Java and other high level languages like Python/Go.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain our Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) offering
- Contribute to the design and execution of engineering projects, and ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
- Review code, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to engineering best practices for development.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across various departments, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to achieve business goals.
- Enable customer POCs, technical evaluation by supporting pre-sales/post-sales, and SREs.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies in distributed systems, public & hybrid cloud infrastructure.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of backend software development experience
- Proficiency in design, programming (Java), and Python/Go debugging skills.
- Experience in building SaaS, cloud native development, and distributed systems with cloud-service providers (like AWS, GCP, Azure) and cloud native technologies (like K8S), and proven track record of shipping features using CI/CD systems for services running with 5 9’s of availability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to align stakeholders and present ideas in diverse forums.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across various departments, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to achieve business goals.
- Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and adapt to changing requirements.
