Job Description
Our People Technology team seeks a Senior Software Engineer in Austin, TX to deliver state-of-the-art Gen AI solutions for our People Team. You will play a key role in aiding our business partners in building the next generation of People systems that incorporate GAI and enhances the employee experience.
In this role, you will be part of a technical team of engineers to design, develop, and deploy new features in our People GAI platform solutions. There will be significant collaboration with business partners, multiple Visa IT teams, and third-party vendors. The ideal candidate will bring energy and enthusiasm to evolve our People Technology platforms, easily understand business requirements, and identify opportunities effectively resolved with technological solutions.
Essential Functions
- Be part of a group of engineers and help in developing GAI solutions using Azure OpenAI and address business challenges and enhance product performance.
- Challenge and support our team to deliver lasting, scalable, and secure solutions that offer excellent user experiences.
- Foster continuous learning, innovation, and improvement, while empowering our team members for decision-making and project ownership.
- Collaborate with project managers, product managers, cross functional teams to deliver every sprint on time and with great quality.
- Communicate regularly with your leads, manager and business partners, understand their product roadmap, manage their expectations, and earn their trust.
- Code, document, and implement new applications and as well as existing programs
- Contribute to enhancements, and corrections to existing applications codebase
- Develop code that complies with design specifications and meets security and best practices. Coding must adhere to all standards for security, be easily maintainable and have high system performance.
- Define and monitor code quality, and coding standards
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- 2+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 5+ years of relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)
- Solid understanding of database design and management systems (both SQL and NoSQL), expertise in performance optimization, data security, data modeling, and the ability to adapt to new database technologies.
- Comprehensive understanding of LLMs and related Technologies (RAG architecture, Prompt engineering) and Azure services (Azure AI search, Azure storage).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- 3 - 6 years of experience with Python, FastAP/Flask, Microsoft .NET core, C# coding and the Visual Studio IDE and Github.com
- Experience in Microsoft SQL Server and TSQL
- Experience with building user interface using HTML, CSS, Angular and React Frameworks
- Knowledge of working in Big Data, Gen AI technologies, AI concepts and cloud solutions is preferred.
- Experience working in Agile methodology and DevOps is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and leadership skills with effective communication (both written and verbal) and the ability to present complex ideas clearly and concisely.
Additional Information
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 105,800.00 to 149,550.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
