The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Software Engineer who would be working across the Proofpoint product teams to build on top of a world class platform and shared services suite of solutions. This position involves architecture, design, implementation and operation of large- scale cloud-based services that form the backbone of Proofpoint’s product suite.

Your day-to-day

You would be expected to act independently to drive the requirements for and own large components within the platform and shared services systems throughout their lifecycle: participate in requirement discussions, gathering and analysis, architecture/design, implementation, testing and deployment rollouts and production support. For this position you would need to exhibit strong technical leadership and communication skills, define and successfully execute engineering roadmap initiatives within an agile application development environment.

What you bring to the team

• 10+ years of strong server-side development experience. Experience of front-end development a bonus.

• Proven hands-on expertise in developing software in an Agile manner.

• Experience with scalability/high availability and distributed data services.

• Experience building, deploying and monitoring large scale cloud services. AWS preferred.

• Experience in modern authentication mechanisms, Authz/Authn.

• Authoritative level understanding and hands-on experience with REST/Web services using JSON.

• Strong Object-Oriented Analysis and design concepts.

• Good understanding of SQL and NoSQL implementations.

• Exposure to modern DevOps methodologies with CI/CD pipelines.

• Ownership of high value product features and technical initiatives.

• Ability to act independently as a lead on complex projects and collaborate with the team.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Ready to adapt and contribute across the wider team as needed.

• Provide mentoring and thought leadership to other team members.

• Expertise in Linux.
