This Sr. Software Engineer is responsible for operating, supporting, maintaining, developing, integrating, and deploying software that supports the Association, Tradeshow, and Live Events segment. As a Sr. Software Engineer, you will also mentors other members of the team.

60% - Communicates fluently orally and in writing and can present complex technical information to both technical and nontechnical audiences. Facilitates collaboration between stakeholders who share common objectives. Plans, schedules and monitors own work (and that of others where applicable) to meet time and quality targets and in accordance with relevant procedures. Rapidly absorbs new technical information and applies it effectively. Maintains an awareness of developing technologies and their application and takes some responsibility for personal development. Mentors lower-level engineers. Identify and update knowledge bases as appropriate. Produces architectural diagrams and documentation. Identifies customizations as well as enhancements to the system framework that can improve group efficiency. Demonstrates an analytical and systematic approach to problem solving.

 

40% - Performs a broad range of complex development, technical or professional work activities, in a variety of contexts. Investigates, defines and resolves complex problems (including occasional after hours support). Understands the relationship between own specialty and wider customer and organizational requirements. Has a good appreciation of the wider field of information systems, their use in relevant employment areas, and how they relate to the business activities of the employer or client. Provide technical leadership to support strategic initiatives. Advises on the available standards, methods, tools and applications and can make appropriate choices from alternatives.

 

Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or equivalent field of study or equivalent job experience.

  • 8+ years' experience developing and delivering software assets utilizing web application frameworks, object-oriented languages, functional programming techniques, design patterns, along with integration strategies and secure coding practices.

  • 8+ years' experience developing scalable web applications, web-services, preferably REST, along with understanding of Architectural and Design concepts related to Asynchronous Services, Event Driven Architecture, Encapsulation, and Architectural Partitioning.

  • Knowledge of security concepts such as OAUTH, SAML, OWASP top 10.

  • Expertise with DevOps practices such as CI/CD, and mature test coverage practices. Ability to thoroughly understanding code complexity and comprehensibility scans, then successfully refactor for simplification and understandability.

  • Expert understanding with cloud-based platforms such as AWS, Google, or Azure, along with respective service offerings such as Serverless, Storage, and Data. Expert understanding with cloud-based platforms such as AWS, Google, or Azure.

  • 8+ years' practical experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases. Expert understanding of core concepts such as ACID transactions, data retrieval, search, and persistence paradigms. Application performance tuning experience preferred.

  • Sound troubleshooting skills and techniques are required. Strong attention to detail required.

  • Ability to communicate with technical & non-technical personnel, both written and verbal. Experience developing in a team environment a must.
