Job Description SummaryThe Senior Software engineer, will develop, and support tools and methods for Fan and Compressor mechanical design. In this role, you will use your mechanical engineering knowledge, to understand complex behavior of compressor blades and collaborate with domain experts and other design engineers across GE Aerospace, to understand design, manufacturing, and durability challenges. Fan and Compressor blades are the key driver in engine performance. GE Aerospace is a pioneer in blade design and technology and in this role, you will get a unique opportunity to understand the complex interaction of mechanical loads, aero performance and material technology that are seen in the design process.
Role responsibilities include conceptualize, develop, and support physics-based tools which will be applied in during the conceptual design as well as during detailed design. The role demands understanding of gas turbine fundamentals, converting engineering requirements into software needs, and collaborating with the design and hardware engineers. It is preferred that the engineer have some experience in at least one aspect of Mechanical Systems as described above and be interested in learning more about the discipline.Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
- Work closely with design engineer and technical experts, understand design process problems, and convert the requirements to development opportunities.
- Work with experts to develop solutions, do POC and validate the solution.
- Implement solutions in the platform and framework of GE Aerospace, using CAD and CAE applications like NX, ANSYS etc.
- Create user interface (UI) specifications in accordance with enhancement requests.
- Collaborate with and support design teams on software-based solutions for analysis tasks and standard work
- Support modernization of tools for end-user experience and system compatibility
- Work collaboratively with Tech Lead and Team Manager for risk resolution and project management
- Ensure on-time project deliverables & resolution of bugs and issues related to production software
- Ensure proper validation, review, and documentation of analytical tools and methods
- Follow standard SDLC process for tool release and updates (Code update, Integration, Compilation, Testing, Validation, TG review and Release)
Qualifications/Requirements
- Overall, 5-6 years of experience with bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Mechanical engineering domain from an accredited university or college (with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the said domain)
- Good understanding of structural analysis physics, simulation, and geometry
- Minimum 3 years of software development experience in customizing design tools using NX, C++
- Knowledge of NX-Modeling/NX-Simulation and ANSYS APDL
- Exposure to SDLC processes and experience in deploying customized mechanical tools to users.
- A self-learner who will drive the project independently with correct definition of a problem statement to proposing a solution and finally solving it creatively.
- Ability to work in a cross-functional environment with strong communication and presentation skills.

- Proven skills of component design process integration (CAD – Meshing – Solver – Post processing)
