Summary:
In this role, you will use best practices and knowledge of internal and external business operations to improve products or services. You will solve complex problems and bring a new perspective to the usage of existing solutions. You will mentor employees in the immediate group.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, enhance, code, test, and debug of complex database systems, preferably relational (SQL) databases.
- Architect and implement large-scale, complex database solutions across multiple platforms, ensuring high performance and scalability.
- Facilitate and lead discussions on database requirements, data modeling, normalization, and query optimization across teams.
- Participate in architecture and design sessions at the product level to define robust data solutions.
- Drive feature-level database architecture and design, ensuring adherence to best practices for database performance and security.
- Recommend and implement improvements to database procedures, query performance, and standards for increased efficiency and reliability.
- Stay ahead of emerging technologies, and identify and communicate technical trends related to databases, cloud solutions, and distributed architectures.
- Mentor junior developers and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of databases with application logic.
- Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with industry standards across all database implementations.
- Collaborate effectively with stakeholders and other team members, utilizing strong interpersonal and communication skills to convey complex technical details.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 5 or more years of relevant experience required.
- Experience with relational databases (SQL Server), including experience in database design, development, and performance tuning required.
- Experience in SQL and T-SQL development, including writing and optimizing complex queries, stored procedures, and functions required.
- Experience with .NET and database integration technologies (e.g., Entity Framework, ADO.NET) is preferred.
- Extensive experience designing and optimizing database schemas, ensuring efficient indexing and high-performance query execution preferred.
- Proven experience working with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., Azure SQL Database) required.
- Experience with emerging cloud technologies such as Azure is preferred.
- Experience working in Agile development environments and familiarity with concepts like Continuous Integration and DevOps practices preferred.
- Strong mentoring skills with the ability to guide and inspire junior developers and work collaboratively with teams.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex database concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Data Engineering experience, including ETL pipelines and data warehousing is a plus.

Estimated Hiring Range:
At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $102,400.00 to $168,800.00.
This position is also incentive eligible.
