Position Summary

The Sr. Software Engineer (Release) is responsible for driving and automating the release of new product offerings across F5 software and SaaS platforms. This role combines traditional Release Engineering expertise—such as validation of release criteria, and stakeholder coordination—with deep hands-on skills in automation, public cloud marketplace workflows, AI-driven pipeline enhancements, and modern code repository practices.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain automation scripts for release processes using Python, Golang, Shell and Terraform.
  • Drive F5 product release processes through development, validation, and deployment phases for all release types (major, minor, patch). Create and manage comprehensive release event checklists.
  • Manage and optimize release workflows for public cloud marketplaces (AWS, Azure, GCP), with responsibility for navigating marketplace onboarding, compliance, and publication processes.
  • Develop and integrate AI-based workflows and tools into CI/CD and release management pipelines, leveraging latest AI solutions for improved release quality and efficiency.
  • Manage code repository best practices and branching strategies, with hands-on ownership of Perforce (P4) and GitLab.
  • Product Life Cycle Management (PLM). Drive SDIM (SKU Design and Implementation) process from PLM approval through Implementation Phase
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Uphold F5’s code of ethics and ensure compliance with corporate and industry standards.
  • Serve as a process innovator for new release quality measures, including leveraging data and automation for continuous improvement.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proven expertise in scripting and automation (Python, Golang, Terraform).
  • Excellent understanding of public cloud marketplaces (AWS Marketplace, Azure Marketplace, Google Cloud Marketplace), including listing, release, and compliance requirements.
  • Hands-on experience developing and maintaining AI-driven workflows; comfortable using and integrating latest AI tools into software engineering/release pipelines.
  • Strong practical knowledge of version control systems (Perforce/P4, GitLab) and associated best practices for enterprise-scale release management.
  • Deep awareness of Oracle Agile PLM, DevOps, and modern CI/CD frameworks.
  • Critical thinking, strong cross-team collaboration, and self-management across parallel release initiatives.
  • Track record of continuous improvement in software release quality, reliability, and automation.

Qualifications

  • 8-year experience with B-Tech or equivalent degree in Computer science or Information Technology.  Project Management certificate desired.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP etc) and SCM tools are mandatory.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in high tech company or similar business.
