Position Summary
The Senior Software Development Engineer will be a key contributor in transforming the CVS Pharmacy Price Value technology ecosystem, building high-quality, scalable solutions that impact millions of customers. As we re-platform our entire stack and leverage AI to accelerate engineering productivity, this role will take ownership of complex technical challenges, deliver robust software, and influence the direction of our next-generation platform.
In this role, you will collaborate with product managers, architects, and fellow engineers to design and implement services and features. You will be expected to proactively identify opportunities for improvement, drive solutions forward, and model best practices in software engineering.
A successful Senior SDE is self-motivated, action-oriented, and committed to continuous learning—consistently adapting to new tools, technologies, and AI-assisted techniques to strengthen the team’s capabilities and deliver innovative solutions.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in Software Development.
Strong foundation in software engineering: problem solving, data structures, algorithms, patterns, concurrency.
Strong proficiency in full stack development technologies (Java, Angular, Spring Boot, Python)
Experience developing and maintaining RESTful APIs, microservices, and backend systems.
Strong experience in relational and/or NoSQL databases.
Experience coordinating release cycles, preparing release notes, and ensuring all development tasks and dependencies are tracked.
Ability to ensure features, bug fixes, and tasks are in a “release-ready” state with proper documentation, testing, and approvals.
Experience supporting production deployments and post-deployment validations.
Strong understanding of agile methodologies and sprint planning best practices.
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Ability to lead technical discussions, clarify requirements, and support junior engineers.
Strong sense of ownership and ability to operate independently with minimal guidance.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in a hybrid role involving both software development and release/operations management.
Knowledge of message queues and event-driven architectures (Pub/Sub, Kafka, etc.).
Experience with an Application and Performance Monitoring platform.
Familiarity with cloud vendors: Azure, AWS or GCP.
Experience establishing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
Experience with SRE or DevOps practices, including incident management and root-cause analysis.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field required.
Master’s degree preferred but not required.
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
