About The Role
We are looking for an experienced engineer with a proven track record of building world class scalable systems that exceed customer needs while achieving business goals. In this position, you will collaborate closely with Engineering, Product and Design teams to enhance our expanding range of product offerings. Additionally, you will develop applications and tools essential for effectively supporting our overall business operations and ensuring the quality of our data and services. This role will be directly responsible for architecting, designing, scoping, building, maintaining and iterating on the underlying systems needed to deliver world class finance products and features.
Responsibilities:
Be part of an agile scrum team and demonstrate constant progress through proof of concept, sandboxing and prototyping
Architect and design scalable, maintainable, secure and reusable strategic solutions
Design and implement frameworks and tools that empower other developers and non-technical colleagues across your entire team
Estimate timelines, perform task breakdown, scoping, design, implementation for mid-to-large scale products and complex multi-month deliverables with insightful strategic approaches
Lead key team initiatives from start to finish by managing and improving the entire software development life cycle
Seek opportunities in our day-to-day workflow and process to improve quality and efficiency from initial ideation to deployment
Present and communicate across multiple groups to showcase progress, share knowledge and evangelize best practices
Performing code reviews for your peers where they will learn from your experience and guidance contributing to collaborative working models
Recommend approaches to solving complex problems and use new technologies to achieve goals
Own, deploy, monitor, and operate large-scale production systems distributed across the globe.
Develop systems that perform data acquisition and processing for new data feeds
Take ownership of existing data feed and data processing systems
Lead and mentor junior engineers in the process of building production grade systems and applications which scale and perform
Act as technical liaison to business teams to translate business needs to work streams and technical solutions
Requirements:
BS, MS, PhD in Computer Science or a related major
Minimum of 7 years industry experience as a Back End Engineer
Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Ability to demonstrate understanding and enthusiasm for the Finance industry, along with a strong commitment to creating must-have products and services for our millions of valued customers
Strong coding background with experience writing production grade code which is clean, maintainable and performant
Experience working on backend large data processing and/or serving systems
Excellent experience architecting, building and maintaining complex software systems and/or web applications
High proficiency with several of the following: distributed systems, domain driven design, API design, multiple database systems, data engineering, performance tuning, content delivery, page performance optimization, multiple programming languages and functional/Unit/Performance testing frameworks
Knowledge of administering database/caching technologies like Redis/MemoryDB, mySQL, DynamoDB on AWS infrastructure
Experience setting up and working with AWS environments and building applications using AWS native services
Experience with containerization technology (Docker, ECS, Kubernetes)
Experience with version control tools (GIT) and build managers (Gradle)
Strong grasp of OWASP security principles and how they apply to all application types
Deep functional knowledge and hands on experience with the following technologies (or equivalent); Java, J2EE, Spring, RESTful Web Services, Apache Storm, Apache Spark, GraphQL, Kubernetes, AWS S3, Elastic Search, Apache Flink, AWS EMR, AirFlow, Pulsar, Kafka, Kinesis
Strong programming fundamentals in Data Structures and Algorithms and knowledge of Object Oriented design paradigms.
Experience building Big Data Processing/Ingestion pipelines
Strong system design skills especially involving modern distributed systems
Strong data modeling skills
