About the Team
In the Workday Adaptive Planning team, we help organizations plan, model, and execute their most critical business decisions. Our Workforce Planning products sit at the intersection of Finance and HR, enabling customers to align headcount, skills, cost, and organizational structure with their strategic objectives. Built on a powerful, in-memory planning platform, our solutions support dynamic, company‑wide planning, rich what‑if modeling, and analytics at scale to help customers navigate ongoing workforce transformation.The Workforce Planning product area focuses on strategic workforce planning and task intelligence: enabling customers to connect long‑term business strategy to workforce demand and supply, understand the work itself (tasks, roles, and skills), and optimize how that work gets done across people, teams, and time. Capabilities include headcount and cost planning, skills and role-based planning, task- and activity-level modeling, scenario modeling for organizational change, integration with HCM/HRIS and financial systems, and intuitive experiences for HR, finance, and business leaders to collaborate on workforce decisions.
More importantly, we are adding AI/ML product capabilities to new and existing Workforce Planning products. This includes building agents and skills that interpret user inputs and constraints, explain trade-offs, summarize decision contexts, and generate recommended organizational scenarios. Our goal is to enable business leaders to quickly explore structural options with guidance, rather than just raw tools, so they can focus on driving necessary changes in their organizations.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced full-stack engineer who is proficient in developing scalable and rich web applications to join our growing team. Your primary focus will be to build out scalable and performant backend services and the necessary APIs that will help expedite implementations and improve the user experience for our customers.
Solve hard technical problems with optimism and positivity while also being a great teammate
Contribute to engineering excellence through effective and fast-paced Agile development with high bar for quality and best coding practices
Work with engineering support teams to address customer escalations
Work with multi-functional team in designing interfaces
Write reliable unit, integration, and system level tests that will run on our CI/CD automation pipelines.
Mentor and learn from other team members through pairing, code reviews, knowledge shares, hackathons, etc.
About You
We are seeking an experienced software engineer to collaborate in a fast paced agile environment and open to learning new languages.
Basic Qualification:
8+ years experience in software development engineering, architecting, building, and scaling robust and efficient software systems.
8+ experience in object oriented programming languages and technologies (Java, C#, Python, Scala).
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Other Qualification:
Team Leadership and/or Agile leadership experience
Experience with metadata-driven development, contributing to highly configurable and adaptable platforms
Experience with integration technologies (e.g., RESTful APIs, message queues)
Exposure to modern UI technologies and languages (e.g, React, Typescript, JavaScript)
A deep understanding of software engineering principles (e.g., design patterns, data structures, algorithms) and their application
A code quality champion and advocate with a strong understanding of test automation principles
Proven ability to lead Team Collaboration within a software development team and mentor junior engineers.
