Job Description Summary
We are looking for a Bid manager to lead delivery of highly complex, large scale HVDC and FACTS tenders across EAP. In addition, may also manage few small to medium size tenders as support to project team (variation order on existing contracts, etc.) or business development team (pre-qualification, etc.).
Roles and Responsibilities
Defines technical solutions (configuration, performance estimation, economics, etc.) as part of the pre-ITO (requisition) process while interfacing with the sales team.
Possesses a deep understanding of relevant markets and customer economic value that aid winning bid strategies.
Technical analysis of client needs: definition and optimization of the products; scope (description); schedule; industrial scheme; cost, considering contract and internal policies and procedures. Calculation of plant, system and equipment performance and efficiency. Documentation of technical specifications & costing elements for further contract execution phases. This also includes OTR part where engineers work on customizing the products and implementing it for specific customer needs,
Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market.
Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated project development with technical variety and/or interdependent project cycles. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Explains information; develops skills to bring consensus around topics.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field.
This role requires advanced experience in the Engineering/Technology & Customer Application Engineering.
At least 15 years of costing and bidding experience in complex electrical turnkey projects.
Past experience in HVDC & FACTS costing and bidding.
Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyse and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
