Job Summary
Senior Renewables Development Specialist provides project leadership to a cross-functional team that is engaged in development and origination of renewable projects. This position critically assesses all attributes of the project, balancing development risks, project costs, site layout, and performance optimization. This role frequently engages with renewable partners and prospective customers interested in energy solutions.
What you will do
- Collects site-specific data and analysis in geographic information systems (GIS) to support site layout development, land use considerations, and project optimization throughout the lifecycle of siting studies and analysis.
- Produces deliverables that support detailed design, pre-construction activities, permitting application support, and related activities.
- Performs or directs performance modeling based on detailed data analysis on site and technology production or other issues that may impact forecasted performance.
- Advises the team on conceptual layouts, preliminary engineering, equipment selection, regulatory filings, and related development or business activities.
- Stays current with industry, technological, and modeling advancement to apply towards Alliant Energy's forecasting and modeling of site performance.
- Assists the development team and Leadership with prioritizing sites for development and analyzing existing sites to maximize performance, site optimization, and other development, construction, and operational considerations.
- Leads various development activities, including coordinating support from cross-functional team members to create work products associated with regulatory filings, local development agreements, and broader project planning.
- Conducts renewable site assessment related studies and conceptual layouts and provides guidance to the team on site optimization.
- Identifies project and develops risk management plans.
- Actively influences the project planning to reduce the probability and impact of risks.
- Assists in the business case development of company’s traditional utility resource assets and non-traditional, typically renewable-based utility resources.
- Engages in other duties as needed that support our Values and help deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.
- Bachelor's Degree Emphasis in business administration, communications, engineering, finance, marketing, economics, or related area Preferred
Required Experience
- 7 years of related experience in business development or renewable resource development or related area.
Other Requirements
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.

- Proficient understanding of utility financial concepts, as well as the various regulatory options that enable direct contracting or integration of resources with our customers.

- Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, Word, spreadsheet, and project management).
