We are looking Reliability Engineers to join the Kaiser Aluminum onsite team in Bellwood Virginia to support our aluminum extrusion and tubular operations!
The Reliability Engineers are responsible for guiding efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls and safety/security systems. Identify and manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations. This broad primary role includes loss elimination, risk management and life cycle asset management.

Purpose of Position
The primary role of the Reliability Engineers is to identify and manage risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations. Within this primary role, the reliability engineer shall direct and provide leadership for an Asset Management plan that will improve asset reliability and Total Cost of Ownership, as well as the reliability of work processes, procedures, and practices that will ensure universal adherence to best practices. Additionally, the Reliability Engineers is the primary steward of the plant’s installed capacity and shall develop and administer an Asset Operations Plan that will assure optimum utilization and operating efficiency of these assets. As part of the overall Asset management Plan, the Reliability Engineer is responsible for the development of an Asset Maintenance Plan that will ensure adequate levels of sustaining maintenance for each asset within the plant.
What you will work on:
- Work with Engineering & Maintenance to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new, modified, and existing equipment
- Responsible for the adherence of the Life Cycle Asset Management (LCAM)
- Participate in factory and site acceptance testing that will assure adherence to functional specifications
- Professionally and systematically define, design, develop, monitor, and refine an Asset Maintenance Plan that includes: value-added preventive maintenance tasks and effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies design to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems
- Professionally and systematically define, design, develop, monitor, and refine an Asset Operating Plan that will provide standardized processes and procedures for proper operation and operator care of production, utility, and auxiliary assets
- Professionally and systematically define, design, develop, monitor, and refine a Risk Management Plan that will anticipate reliability-related and non-reliability related risks that could adversely impact plant operations
- Develop solutions to reduce losses from repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations including capacity, quality, cost or regulatory compliance issues
- To fulfill the responsibility listed above, this position shall apply:
- Data analysis techniques that can include:
- Equipment Reliability modeling and prediction
- Fault tree analysis
- Weibull analysis
- Six Sigma methodology
- Root-Cause and Root-Cause Failure Analysis (RCA, RCFA)
- Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS)
- Analyze asset and production system performance to include:
- Overall equipment effectiveness
- Remaining useful life
- Provide technical support to production, maintenance management, and technical personnel
- Apply value analysis on equipment repair/replace/re-design.
Relationships
- Report to the Engineering & Maintenance Manager
- Ability to develop and manage good working relationships with internal departments (production, sales, logistics, accounting), contractors, suppliers inspectors and customers)
What you will bring to the role:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and three (3) years of experience in heavy manufacturing environment.
- Advanced computer skills, with emphasis on condition monitoring software
- Two (2) or more years of experience executing engineering projects.
- Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional Certification (CMRP) a plus
- Strong hydraulic and/or combustion Experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Familiar Proficiency with NFPA Standard 86 requirements.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and the tools associated with equipment failure detection (i.e. vibration analysis, oil monitoring, thermography) as well as the software associated with them
