Our client is a leading technology company focused on transforming the healthcare experience through smarter provider data management and digital front-door solutions. Their platforms power critical digital workflows for some of the largest health systems in the U.S., enabling seamless search, scheduling, and provider discovery. As Phynd expands into new digital experiences—including Smart TV applications—they are seeking highly skilled engineers to push the boundaries of UX, performance, and platform reach.
Role OverviewOur client is looking for a very senior React Engineer to join their team and contribute to the development of a high-performance Smart TV gaming application. This role requires deep expertise in modern React, advanced state management, and UI performance optimization. Candidates with prior Smart TV app experience (Samsung Tizen, LG webOS, Roku, Fire TV, etc.) will stand out immediately.
This is a hands-on, senior-level engineering role where you will architect, optimize, and build user-facing features for a new Smart TV experience with a strong emphasis on UX responsiveness, smooth entry/exit transitions, and consistent rendering performance.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead development of a React-based Smart TV gaming application, focusing on performance, responsiveness, and fluid UX.
Ensure best-in-class state management and application structure using React best practices.
Optimize rendering flows using memoization, hooks, suspense, React Compiler, and other React performance techniques.
Improve and maintain complex UI interactions, including entry/exit flows, navigation, and animation performance on limited hardware.
Collaborate with product, design, and backend teams to deliver high-quality experiences across Smart TV platforms.
Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and platform-specific constraints on Smart TV environments.
Contribute to architectural decisions and mentor other engineers as needed.
Work autonomously in an agile environment, delivering high-impact features quickly and efficiently.
7+ years of professional experience in frontend engineering with a strong focus on React.
Proven track record building high-performance consumer-facing applications.
Smart TV development experience strongly preferred (Tizen, webOS, Roku, Fire TV, or similar).
Deep expertise in:
React optimization techniques
Memoization strategies
Custom hooks & advanced hooks usage
Managing complex state (Redux, Zustand, Recoil, Jotai, or similar)
React Compiler and modern React performance tooling
Strong understanding of performance constraints on TV devices (CPU/memory limits, rendering limitations, remote-control UX).
Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
Ability to work within PST or EST hours (PST overlap required).
Experience with gaming frameworks or interactive media on TV platforms.
Familiarity with video rendering, animations, or low-level performance profiling.
Experience working in healthcare or similarly regulated industries.
Work on cutting-edge digital experiences at the intersection of healthcare and next-gen consumer interfaces.
Opportunity to convert to full-time after 3-month contract period.
Highly collaborative team with strong engineering culture.
Flexible remote work for candidates across Canada and LATAM.
