Your role and responsibilitiesIn this role, we are looking for an experienced Senior Quality Engineering Lead to join our Industrial Automation Digital Organization. You will play a key role in driving software quality for ABB's next-generation Edge and Cloud-based industrial automation products through comprehensive test strategy, automation, performance validation, and continuous quality improvement.
The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in automation testing, performance engineering, API validation, and modern software quality practices. You will work closely with global development teams across product management, software engineering, and architecture to ensure high-quality, reliable, and secure software releases.

You will be mainly accountable for:- Define test strategy, validation scope, and quality plans for Edge and Cloud-based industrial automation products by understanding product roadmaps, features, and technical requirements.
- Design, develop, and execute comprehensive functional, integration, system, regression, API, and non-functional test cases to ensure product quality and release readiness.
- Lead automation testing initiatives using modern automation frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, or equivalent technologies to improve test coverage and execution efficiency.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Project Managers, Architects, and Development teams to estimate testing efforts, plan validation activities, and ensure quality objectives are achieved within project timelines.
- Drive continuous improvement of automated test suites, execution reliability, test environments, and quality engineering practices across the product lifecycle.
- Plan and execute performance, scalability, and load testing using tools such as JMeter and provide actionable performance insights.
- Manage test cases, defect lifecycle, execution reports, and release quality metrics using Azure DevOps.
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot test environments, ensuring compatibility across software versions, patches, upgrades, and deployment scenarios.
- Build and maintain end-to-end test setups based on product requirements while supporting product demonstrations, customer validation, training, and pre-sales activities when required.
- Contribute to quality discussions during product planning and design reviews by providing risk assessments, validation strategies, and continuous feedback to development teams.
- Evaluate and adopt modern testing approaches including AI-assisted testing, specification-driven development, and intelligent test automation to improve engineering productivity.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, engineering best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives across the software development lifecycle.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) or equivalent with consistently strong academic performance.
- 12+ years of experience in software quality engineering, integration testing, test planning, execution, and automation for enterprise-grade software products.
- Strong hands-on experience with Playwright, Selenium, or equivalent UI automation frameworks.
- Experience in API testing, integration testing, regression testing, and non-functional testing using modern automation tools.
- Hands-on experience in performance and load testing using tools such as JMeter, with the ability to design, execute, and analyze performance test results.
- Exposure to modern AI technologies and engineering tools including Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Model Context Protocol (MCP), and AI-assisted testing approaches.
- Exposure to Specification-Driven Development (Spec-Driven Development) methodologies is desirable.
- Working knowledge of Industrial Automation systems such as DCS, PLC, or SCADA will be an added advantage.
- Development experience in C#, Java, or Python with a solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming concepts is desirable.
- Experience working in Agile software development environments with familiarity in Scrum methodologies.
- Proficiency with source code management and application lifecycle tools including GitHub, Azure DevOps, and Microsoft testing platforms.
- Experience working with virtualized environments such as VMware, Hyper-V, or Microsoft Azure.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, industrial communication protocols including FTP, TCP/IP, OPC-UA/DA, and software build processes.
- Ability to analyze new product features, understand business use cases, and develop comprehensive validation strategies.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles including authentication, authorization, cryptography, and secure communication is desirable.
- Exposure to Cybersecurity, IT/OT environments, networking, and Industrial Automation domains will be an added advantage.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder collaboration, and mentoring skills with the ability to work effectively in global cross-functional teams.
