Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Sr. Project Engineer is responsible for partnering with our manufacturing plants to identify, develop and implement projects to continually improve our operational performance. Initially, the primary focus of this role will be centered around the Hartselle Wood plant to meet our growth strategy. Our Hartselle Wood plant manufactures industrial nailed wood and plywood reels for the booming wire and cable industry. This is a great opportunity for a proven technical leader to immediately make an immediate impact not only in the Hartselle Plant but across the Reels Division. The Sr. Project Engineer will play a key role in collaborating with the maintenance manager/team to continually improve our maintenance process, equipment technology and overall plant performance.
What you’ll be doing:
- Works safely and promotes safety in all aspects of employment.
- Identifying and developing talent.
- Promote a culture in which production, maintenance and engineering work together to identify and resolve abnormal or degraded equipment conditions that could negatively impact safety, quality or productivity.
- Responsible for directing construction and installation of engineering projects which may involve buildings, equipment, and utility services at any location.
- Drive projects that will include product development, process improvement, and machinery development that will improve safety or competitive advantage.
- Collaborates with the maintenance manager to drive maintenance excellence and the development of technical talent across the plant.
- Utilizes data (CMMS, machine level data collection, plant performance metrics) to drive project prioritization.
- Apply reliability tools (RCA and FMEA) to determine the root cause of critical equipment failures and downtime. Identify the appropriate countermeasures and solutions to improve equipment reliability and prevent recurrence.
- Project leader - Oversees project workflow including concept development, budgetary costs, engineering design, fabrication, assembly, testing, installation, and startup through plant install.
- Responsible for directing construction and installation of engineering projects which may involve buildings, equipment, and utility services at any location.

- Process-oriented. Can identify gaps in any process and develop/implement countermeasure to eliminate.
- Basic mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, instrumentation, lubrication, and predictive maintenance understanding
- Ability to manage costs and reduce/optimize where needed
- Proficient in 2D/3D design software and CMMS
- Minimum education required: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Lean and/or Six Sigma certification a plus.
- Minimum Experience (Preferred): 7+ years of manufacturing engineering or maintenance experience and 3+ years of supervisory manufacturing experience; Experience in TPM or Reliability field required. Experience with CMMS implementation and utilization required.
Compensation:
The annual base salary range for this role is from $131,920 to $148,410, plus an annual target bonus of 12.5% of base salary.
