Job DescriptionAbout the Opportunity
Solaris is seeking a Project Engineer to support the execution of power and infrastructure projects through construction, commissioning, and closeout. This role provides field-focused engineering support, resolves technical issues, coordinates across teams and vendors, and ensures that design intent is successfully implemented. Strong communication, attention to detail, and a hands-on approach are key to success in this role.
Essential Functions
- Provide engineering support during construction and installation activities.
- Interpret drawings and resolve technical issues raised by field teams.
- Perform field verifications for equipment placement, piping routing, and layout accuracy.
- Support commissioning teams with startup procedures, system checks, and troubleshooting.
- Maintain up-to-date design documents and drawing sets.
- Track and document Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and ensure alignment across teams.
- Collect redlines and ensure proper turnover of accurate as-built information.
- Serve as a liaison between engineering, construction crews, project managers, and vendors.
- Participate in coordination meetings and help resolve interface issues.
- Communicate technical updates and decisions clearly across disciplines and stakeholders.
- Monitor progress of engineering deliverables to support construction and commissioning timelines.
- Align engineering activities with procurement and construction schedules.
- Identify potential bottlenecks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Ensure turnover documentation (as-built drawings, O&M manuals, test records) is accurate and complete.
- Support post-commissioning reviews and lessons learned documentation.
- Assist with resolution of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and implementation of corrective actions.
- Coordinate with suppliers and OEMs on technical clarifications and integration of major equipment, including gas turbines.
Experience/Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field) is preferred but not required.
- 2–6 years of relevant experience supporting infrastructure or industrial projects.
- Experience working in EPC project environments
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, P&IDs, and equipment layouts.
- Familiarity with construction workflows, commissioning processes, and change management.
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with vendors, contractors, and cross-disciplinary teams in the field.
