Position summary
At Ecolab, we grow by delivering measurable outcomes—helping teams perform at their best while protecting what’s vital. This role builds and sustains an operational “cockpit” that connects engineering activity, operational performance, and basic financials into a clear, trusted set of KPIs and Power BI dashboards. You will translate data into insights, enabling leaders to focus on what matters most, simplify decision-making, and drive consistent execution.
- Collect and structure data: Identify, access, and consolidate data from engineering and business sources (e.g., ERP/finance extracts, timesheets, CMMS/EAM, project tools, spreadsheets), ensuring quality, traceability, and reliable refresh.
- Build scalable reporting models: Create and maintain clean data models and measures (Power Query, DAX) so KPI definitions are consistent, auditable, and reusable.
- Define KPIs that drive action: Partner with engineering, operations, and finance to define and document KPIs across activity levels, performance, and financials (targets, thresholds, and drivers), creating a clear KPI dictionary and “single source of truth.”
- Design the cockpit in Power BI: Build intuitive dashboards and scorecards (executive summary and operational drill-down) with trends, targets, variance to plan, and exception views that help leaders prioritize and remove noise.
- Enable a disciplined reporting cadence: Deliver weekly/monthly performance reporting and automated refresh schedules; provide clear commentary on key movements, exceptions, and required follow-ups.
- Collaborate as One Ecolab: Work cross-functionally to validate logic, resolve data gaps, and align the cockpit to the decisions leaders need to make.
- Strengthen governance and trust: Maintain documentation for KPI definitions, calculation logic, data lineage, and change control to reduce “number debates” and improve decision speed.
- Continuously improve and simplify: Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting, improve data capture, and enhance the cockpit as priorities evolve.
- Bachelor’s degree with 3 to 5 years of experience
- Candidates must be excellent in Power BI and Power Query, Good at MS SQL.
- Hands-on experience building dashboards in Power BI (Power Query, data modeling, DAX measures).
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills; ability to reconcile data, explain variances, and build confidence in the numbers.
- Advanced Excel capability; working knowledge of SQL (or equivalent) for querying and validation.
- Working understanding of engineering and/or operations performance concepts (e.g., throughput, backlog, cycle time, downtime, productivity, utilization) and comfort engaging with technical stakeholders.
- Ability to interpret basic financials (cost categories, budget vs. actuals, forecasts, simple P&L drivers) and connect financial outcomes to operational drivers.
- Clear communication skills—able to translate business questions into KPI definitions and simple, decision-ready visuals.
- Demonstrated ownership, attention to detail, and ability to deliver on a recurring reporting rhythm.
- Experience with modern data platforms (Snowflake data warehouse/lake concepts, ETL/ELT) and/or Azure data services.
- Power BI administration experience (workspaces, deployment, row-level security, governance).
- Exposure to ERP and finance systems; understanding of cost accounting concepts relevant to engineering (e.g., maintenance cost, project cost, capex/opex).
- Experience building executive scorecards and operational drill-down reporting that supports business reviews.
- Lean/Continuous Improvement, reliability, or performance management exposure.
Skills Required
- Degree or advanced degree in an engineering discipline
