The Surgical Operating Unit is a key business within Medtronic, focused on advancing minimally invasive therapies through innovative surgical technologies. Our portfolio includes surgical instrumentation, energy devices, stapling solutions, and robotic-assisted platforms, enabling clinicians to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality care.

We collaborate closely across functions including Sales, Marketing, Clinical, Service, and Digital teams to drive market expansion, improve patient outcomes, and create value for healthcare systems. The OU plays a critical role in shaping the future of surgery by integrating technology, data, and clinical insights.

<Main Responsibilities>

The Senior Product Specialist is responsible for transitioning the Global Marketing Commercialization plan for the Advanced MIS Platform to the Japan Commercial plan. From a Downstream Marketing perspective, this position will work with COT leaders/regional ambassadors to ensure execution of fiscal plan while identifying and supporting market development initiatives. Within the region of responsibility, the Senior Product Specialist will ensure alignment to the Global Strategy, will assess and help to build/expand functional capabilities while serving as the regional conduit for Global Marketing, but will plan, lead and direct the marketing for the product portfolio. 

This highly visible role offers candidates an opportunity to develop and implement profitable growth strategies for a key business franchise within Medtronic. Candidates with appropriate experiences will find this position rewarding & yielding multidisciplinary challenges, as well as opportunities for career growth.  An ideal candidate for this position will possess strong marketing, healthcare, & managerial experiences with notable strategic thinking skills. Knowledge of the hospital/surgical space is required.

Your responsibilities include the following:

Upstream Marketing:

  • Identification of upstream opportunities for market including organic and inorganic opportunity assessment

Downstream Marketing:

  • Identify and support market development initiatives

  • Develop strategies and execute marketing plans and programs, both short-and long-term, to ensure the profitable growth and market share of the assigned portfolio.

Information Technology Service and Data Solution Marketing:

  • Build strategies and execute data management business including AI technologies

Strategic Input:

  • Voice of region within PMT

  • Develop promotional strategies, sales support materials, educational aids, etc. to grow market share to ensure sales excellence.

  • Oversee the development of customer satisfaction survey and needs assessment to continuously improve business models and communicate to global partners.

Regional Ambassador:

  • Ensure alignment to broader Surgical global strategy

  • Assess and support to build/expand functional capabilities

  • Conduit to regional marketers

Department specific/Non-essential functions

<Must Haves>

Job Experience

  • 5 ~ years of experience in Marketing and Sales.

  • Proven success in marketing and business management.

Skill / Knowledge

  • Team orientation, collaboration, written/oral communication, analytical and customer focus, and priority

  • Exceptional quantitative, analytical, written and verbal skills in English. 

  • Proven track record of planning, execution and results

Competency

  • Executing in the Matrix, Strategic Agility, Managing Vision & Purpose, Decision Quality, Business Acumen and Innovation Management

Education

  • University degree or its equivalent, MBA a plus

  • Engineering degree is a plus

<Nice to Haves>

Job Experience

  • Certification in sterile processing (e.g., CBSPD, CHL (HSPA)) is a plus as higher than 2nd level/class which is recognized by Japanese society.

  • Medical cloud service consultation is a plus

<Working Style>

Key element is flexibility and ability to work independently.  Ability to travel as much as necessary for position (up to 60% travel)
