Ad Platforms is responsible for Disney’s industry-leading ad technology and products – driving advertising performance, innovation, and value in Disney’s sports, news, and entertainment content, across all media platforms.

Ad Serving Engineering within Disney Entertainment and ESPN is responsible for building, enhancing, and maintaining the high-performance, distributed, microservice-based Digital Advertising Platform. This platform qualifies, delivers, and tracks Digital Advertising campaigns (Video on Demand, Live TV, and interactive ads) across all Disney online properties including Hulu and ESPN+. Ad Serving teams also collaborate on supporting components such as anti-ad fatigue systems, impression counting pipelines, and ad experience flows, as well as integrations with pacing, targeting, and ad selection systems. Increasingly, teams also evaluate opportunities to productionize and integrate LLMs/models into high-scale service.

What you'll do:

  • Build components of large-scale orchestration platform for VOD ad serving

  • Contribute to the best engineering practices, including the use of design patterns, CI/CD, code review and automated test

  • Chip in ground-breaking innovation and apply the state-of-the-art technologies such as LLM-assisted processing or model-driven decisioning.

  • As a key member of the team, contribute to all aspects of the software lifecycle: design, experimentation, implementation and testing.

  • Collaborate with program managers, product managers, SDET, and researchers in an open and innovative environment

Basic Qualification:

  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience creating and coding backend services

  • BS in Computer Science / Engineering or equivalent experience.

  • Expertise in at least one language on the JVM

  • Experience working with cloud providers

  • Familiarity with databases (SQL and NoSQL)

  • Experience investigating technical components and taking ownership of feature development

Preferred Qualifications - Comprehensive Experience with:

  • SpringBoot and related Spring projects.

  • Non-relational databases (e.g., DynamoDB).

  • Redis and/or MemCache.

  • AWS or other cloud providers.

  • Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes.

  • Ad Tech industry experience.

  • Experience with prompt / tool pattern design, function calling, streaming, and context management

The hiring range for this position in Los Angeles, California is $141,900 to 190,300 per year, Seattle, WA is $148,700 to $199,400, and San Francisco, CA is $155,400 to $208,400 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
