About the Opportunity

Help shape the next generation of cloud-based neurodiagnostic software.

At Natus, we're looking for an experienced Senior Technical Product Owner who thrives at the intersection of software engineering, cloud technology, and product development.

In this role, you'll play a critical part in turning complex clinical workflows, customer needs, and product strategies into clear, actionable requirements that development teams can bring to life.

You'll work alongside talented engineers, software architects, product managers, and cross-functional partners to help build scalable, secure, and innovative cloud software solutions that support healthcare professionals and the patients they serve.

This isn't simply a role about managing a backlog. We're looking for someone who takes ownership, understands the technology behind the product, anticipates challenges, and ensures development teams have the clarity and direction they need to deliver exceptional software.

If you enjoy solving complex problems, collaborating with technical teams, and making a meaningful impact on healthcare technology, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Get to DoOwn the Product Backlog and Drive Development Readiness
  • Take ownership of the software development backlog for cloud products, platform capabilities, and development teams.

  • Translate product vision, customer needs, and clinical workflows into well-defined epics, features, user stories, and acceptance criteria.

  • Lead backlog refinement and prioritization, ensuring requirements are clear, testable, and ready for development.

  • Proactively identify missing requirements, technical dependencies, conflicting priorities, and potential delivery risks.

  • Balance customer needs, product priorities, technical constraints, regulatory requirements, and release timelines.

  • Partner with development teams throughout Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, reviews, and demonstrations.

Turn Complex Requirements Into Actionable Solutions
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management to understand product goals, clinical workflows, and upcoming release objectives.

  • Break down complex product capabilities into manageable, development-ready requirements.

  • Partner with UI/UX, Engineering, and Test teams to define user experiences, functional requirements, and acceptance criteria.

  • Anticipate edge cases, workflow variations, permissions, integrations, and other details critical to successful implementation.

  • Help define Minimum Viable Product (MVP) scope and determine which capabilities should be prioritized for future releases.

  • Maintain alignment and traceability between product requirements, development stories, and delivered functionality.

Partner With Engineering on Technical Solutions
  • Work directly with software architects and engineering leaders to understand technical designs and their impact on product functionality.

  • Participate in discussions involving cloud architecture, microservices, APIs, databases, integrations, security, performance, and scalability.

  • Identify technical dependencies and ensure infrastructure, architectural improvements, and technical debt are appropriately represented in the backlog.

  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to understand deployment, monitoring, configuration, and operational requirements.

  • Help teams navigate technical trade-offs while maintaining alignment with product objectives and delivery commitments.

Keep Teams Aligned and Releases Moving Forward
  • Partner with Product Management and Engineering leadership to align release priorities with team capacity and technical readiness.

  • Coordinate requirements and dependencies across multiple development teams, services, and platform components.

  • Identify and address scope changes, requirement gaps, and delivery risks before they become roadblocks.

  • Support release planning, product demonstrations, stakeholder reviews, and software acceptance activities.

  • Collaborate with Quality, Regulatory, and Test teams to support requirements traceability, verification, validation, and compliance with applicable quality system procedures.

What We're Looking For

You're a technically strong Product Owner who can confidently collaborate with senior software engineers and architects while keeping development teams focused on delivering the right solutions.

You bring a combination of technical depth, product ownership, strong decision-making, and the ability to turn ambiguity into clarity.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.

  • 10+ years of experience in software product development, software engineering, systems analysis, product ownership, or related technical roles.

  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Technical Product Owner, Business/System Analyst, Product Manager, or equivalent role working directly with software development teams.

  • Proven experience owning complex software development backlogs across multiple teams, services, or platform capabilities.

  • Strong ability to translate high-level product requirements into detailed user stories, technical requirements, and testable acceptance criteria.

  • Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and the software development lifecycle.

  • Experience driving backlog prioritization, requirements clarification, dependency management, and sprint readiness.

  • Strong technical understanding of modern software architecture, including microservices, REST APIs, databases, messaging systems, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure.

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS, or equivalent cloud platforms.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Software Engineering, Architecture, DevOps, QA/Test, UI/UX, Product Management, and other stakeholders.

  • Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar backlog and requirements-management tools.

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Even Better If You Have
  • Previous hands-on experience as a Software Engineer, Software Architect, Technical Lead, or Systems Engineer.

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-native application development.

  • Familiarity with enterprise SaaS platforms, multi-tenant cloud applications, and large-scale distributed systems.

  • Experience coordinating development across multiple engineering teams and managing complex technical dependencies.

  • Experience developing software for healthcare, medical devices, clinical applications, or other regulated industries.

  • Knowledge of medical software standards such as IEC 62304, ISO 13485, or ISO 14971.

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity, privacy, role-based access control (RBAC), and healthcare data-protection requirements.

  • Understanding of healthcare interoperability standards, including HL7 and FHIR.

  • Experience working with geographically distributed Agile development teams.

What Will Make You Successful

We're looking for someone who:

  • Takes ownership: You don't wait for someone else to resolve unclear requirements or competing priorities. You proactively drive solutions forward.

  • Speaks the language of engineering: You understand technical trade-offs and can engage confidently in architecture and design discussions.

  • Brings clarity to complexity: You can turn broad ideas, complicated workflows, and ambiguous requirements into actionable development plans.

  • Thinks ahead: You anticipate dependencies, risks, and edge cases before they disrupt delivery.

  • Builds strong partnerships: You bring Product, Engineering, Quality, and other teams together around shared goals.

  • Balances the big picture with the details: You understand product objectives while ensuring individual stories and acceptance criteria are ready for implementation.
