Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology
Technology is at the heart of Disney’s past, present, and future. Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is a global organization of engineers, product developers, designers, technologists, data scientists, and more – all working to build and advance the technological backbone for Disney’s media business globally.
The team marries technology with creativity to build world-class products, enhance storytelling, and drive velocity, innovation, and scalability for our businesses. We are Storytellers and Innovators. Creators and Builders. Entertainers and Engineers. We work with every part of The Walt Disney Company’s media portfolio to advance the technological foundation and consumer media touch points serving millions of people around the world.
Here are a few reasons why we think you’d love working here:
Building the future of Disney’s media: Our Technologists are designing and building the products and platforms that will power our media, advertising, and distribution businesses for years to come. Reach, Scale & Impact: More than ever, Disney’s technology and products serve as a signature doorway for fans' connections with the company’s brands and stories. Disney+. Hulu. ESPN. ABC. ABC News…and many more. These products and brands – and the unmatched stories, storytellers, and events they carry – matter to millions of people globally. Innovation: We develop and implement groundbreaking products and techniques that shape industry norms, and solve complex and distinctive technical problems.
The Data Product team is seeking a Senior Product Manager I to drive data collection outcomes across Disney’s DTC streaming products. Data Product bridges the analytics and product teams who depend on high-quality behavioral data and the engineering teams who implement the systems that capture it — and this role sits at that intersection for Disney’s streaming portfolio.
You’ll own instrumentation outcomes for assigned product areas — translating requirements into clear implementation specifications and driving end-to-end delivery across web, mobile, and connected TV. You’ll partner closely with Product Engineering and platform teams to ensure telemetry is accurate, documented, and reliably supports analytics, experimentation, and personalization downstream.
You’re technically fluent in data collection and instrumentation, bring a bias for action to ambiguous problems, and communicate with the clarity that bridges engineering and business needs. You have a demonstrated record of delivering high-quality telemetry that world-class analytics and data science teams depend on.
Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:
Define analytics instrumentation across Disney's DTC streaming products, accountable for data completeness, accuracy, and quality.
Convert product requirements and business questions into precise telemetry specs — events, parameters, identifiers, schemas — that engineering teams can implement consistently.
Drive instrumentation from discovery through solution design, implementation, validation, and launch, coordinating across Product Engineering and Platform teams.
Work closely with engineering to ensure telemetry is implemented correctly, performs reliably, and aligns with platform standards.
Proactively identify telemetry gaps and risks and drive resolution through sharper requirements and tight engineering collaboration.
Ensure telemetry reliably supports experimentation frameworks, personalization, and downstream analytics through consistent, documented behavioral signals.
Use data to audit telemetry health and downstream usage, and inform future instrumentation decisions.
Improve documentation, share learnings, and help evolve instrumentation schemas and patterns across the team.
Basic Qualifications
5+ years in analytics instrumentation, telemetry, data product management, or a closely related technical discipline
Hands-on experience designing event-based data models and telemetry schemas — including event taxonomies, parameters, identifiers, and data contracts — for web, mobile, or connected TV
Ability to translate product requirements and business questions into precise, actionable telemetry specifications that engineering teams can implement consistently
SQL fluency and comfort working in cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or equivalent) to validate telemetry quality and drive your own analysis
Experience driving cross-functional instrumentation delivery across Product Engineering and platform partners
A bias for action and comfort with ambiguity — you make progress without a fully defined playbook and close open questions rather than waiting for resolution
You use AI-enabled tools as an accelerant — to move faster, validate smarter, and solve problems more completely
Clear written communication: crisp technical specs, accessible explanations for both engineers and business stakeholders, and the ability to build trust across functions
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in streaming, media, or direct-to-consumer subscription products and an understanding of how behavioral signals map to product and business metrics
Familiarity with first-party telemetry infrastructure and how data flows from collection through analytics, experimentation, and personalization
Experience supporting experimentation frameworks (A/B testing, feature flagging) through high-quality behavioral telemetry
Understanding of privacy, consent, and identity considerations in first-party data collection (GDPR, CCPA) and their practical implications for instrumentation design
Ability to improve or standardize telemetry schemas, instrumentation patterns, or documentation practices across product teams
Familiarity with event-driven architectures or streaming data infrastructure and their relationship to telemetry quality
Required Education
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Business, Analytics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
