Join Itron as a Product Manager and help shape the future of clean energy. We're looking for a collaborative, systems-minded leader to help evolve our Distributed Intelligence platform, which is a key enabler in building a more sustainable, reliable, and customer-centric electric grid. In this role, you’ll be an active participant in developing software to increase grid resiliency, integrate renewable energy sources, and improve real-time grid operations. The Distributed Intelligence platform serves Itron’s Grid Edge Intelligence applications with a scalable, interoperable, and thoughtfully designed system for managing application deployments and integrating data from multiple sources. As a Senior Product Manager, you’ll define core capabilities for how to deliver software and analytics at the grid edge, and play a key role in unifying platform services across multiple grid management use cases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shape and manage product requirements for Itron’s Distributed Intelligence Enterprise Application Center, which manages utility software applications running at the grid edge.
- Partner with cross-functional teams—including engineering, architecture, and implementation—to deliver solutions that are aligned with technical, operational, and customer needs.
- Contribute to platform software architecture strategy, and design, including performance, normalization, and support for scalable software services.
- Define how grid edge data is governed, managed, and distributed, to support utility data analytics and artificial intelligence / AI use cases.
- Support and troubleshoot customer software deployments and migrations, while creating and maintaining technical documentation and solution guidelines.
- Engage in product discovery to ensure development is grounded in user needs, market insights, and utility goals
Required Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in technical product management, solution architecture, or energy software development
- Experience and understanding of distributed software systems such as IoT/internet of things, or utility metering.
- Adept at evangelizing and driving cross-functional consensus across internal groups and external customers.
- Understanding of data management and database design principles.
- Exposure to utility operations systems (e.g., AMI, ADMS, GIS, CIS), or similar from a related field.
- Strong and flexible communication skills, able to communicate with both a technical and sales audience interchangeably.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, energy systems, or related field
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Previous utility industry experience
- Understanding of cloud-native platforms and microservices architectures
- Awareness of cybersecurity best practices for energy systems
- Experience working in Agile environments and using tools like Microsoft ADS, Jira, Confluence, or Azure DevOps
