Sr. Process Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Audubon is currently seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join our team in our Houston, TX Office.  The Senior Process Engineer will lead process design and engineering for midstream facilities including gas gathering systems, compressor stations, gas processing plants, NGL fractionation units, and pipeline infrastructure.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead process design and engineering for midstream facilities including gas gathering systems, compressor stations, gas processing plants, NGL fractionation units, and pipeline infrastructure.
• Develop and review process flow diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs, heat and material balances, and equipment sizing calculations
• Provide technical support for plant operations, including troubleshooting process upsets, capacity constraints, and efficiency losses
• Lead or support HAZOP, PHA, and MOC (Management of Change) reviews for new and modified facilities
• Evaluate and optimize existing unit operations (amine treating, dehydration, refrigeration, compression, cryogenic NGL recovery)
• Partner with operations, project engineering, and construction teams to execute capital projects from FEL/FEED through startup
• Develop scopes of work, equipment specifications, and datasheets for major process equipment
• Support regulatory compliance efforts and ensure designs meet applicable codes (API, ASME, GPA Midstream standards)
• Mentor junior engineers and review their technical work
• Participate in field visits, commissioning, and startup activities as needed

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering (required); PE license a plus
• 8+ years of process engineering experience, with a minimum of 5 years specifically in midstream oil & gas
• Hands-on experience with gas processing plants, NGL fractionation, or crude/products pipeline systems
• Strong working knowledge of midstream-specific unit operations: amine treating, TEG/molecular sieve dehydration, refrigeration, compression trains, and cryogenic NGL recovery
• Familiarity with API, GPA Midstream, and ASME codes and standards
• Proficiency with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, ProMax, or similar)
• Experience with HAZOP/PHA facilitation or participation
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with operations, projects, and construction teams

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Chemical Engineering
• Experience with capital project execution (FEED through startup)
• Prior experience in a lead or supervisory engineering role

Physical/Work Requirements

• Ability to travel to field locations as needed 
• Ability to work in an office and occasional field/plant environment
