KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze metallurgical and metal forming processes (rolling, forging, heat treatment) using statistical tools to identify variability, and increase yield
- Collect and analyze production and quality data (SPC, control charts, Pareto analysis) to drive process optimization and reduce scrap and rework
- Lead root cause investigations on defects related to metallurgy (e.g., cracking, inclusions, grain structure) and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Partner with operations, maintenance, and quality teams to resolve equipment and process issues impacting throughput, product quality, and consistency
- Develop and maintain data dashboards, and trend analyses to monitor KPIs such as yield, downtime, and defect rates
- Provide metallurgical expertise to troubleshoot issues tied to material processing, heat treatment cycles, and forming operations
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction, process stability, and operational efficiency
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards specific to metals manufacturing and processing environments
MUST HAVES
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- Experience: 3+ years in metals manufacturing (e.g., steel, titanium, forging, rolling, or heat treatment operations)
- Metallurgical Knowledge: Strong understanding of physical metallurgy including microstructure-property relationships, and thermal/mechanical processing
- Data & Analytical Skills: Proven ability to gather, analyze, and interpret production data using Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables), control charts, and statistical tools (Minitab or similar)
- Problem-Solving: Experience conducting root cause analysis on metallurgical defects and process inefficiencies using structured methodologies
- Process Improvement: Demonstrated success improving yield, reducing scrap, and stabilizing processes through data-driven decisions
- Project Execution: Ability to manage and execute process improvement projects from data collection through implementation and validation
WE VALUE
- Experience with metal forming operations such as hot/cold rolling, forging, extrusion, and associated process controls
- Familiarity with heat treatment processes (annealing, quenching) and their impact on material properties.
- Hands-on knowledge of machining processes (CNC, milling, turning) and downstream effects on metallurgical quality
- Certification or application of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma (DMAIC), or Statistical Process Control in a metal's environment
- Experience working with production databases, MES systems, or historian tools to extract and analyze process data
- Strong technical communication skills, with the ability to present data insights through charts, reports, and visual dashboards
- Self-driven continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify trends in data and translate them into actionable process changes
- Ability to collaborate effectively across operations, engineering, and leadership to drive measurable business impact

COMPENSATION
The annual base salary range for this position is $98154K-$122693k. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
